The Boss is Back! 2012 Boss 302
#302
I like how this thread about the BOSS has turned into a discussion about the 50th anniv ed. That's too far down the road to not have fun now. Since I can't (and don't want to) afford a new BOSS right now, I'll just have to stick with the plans of rebuilding my 2001.5 MY Bullitt.

I agree. Sync, HIDs, and a Security Package would/should be available (or standard features) in a higher tier car like this. I say that with the assumption that the parts necessary to add those to the vehicle add no significant weight to the car (<5 lbs).

Power is delivered to a 3.73 ratio rear axle using carbon fiber plates in the limited-slip differential to improve torque handling and longevity. For those who want even more precise control over power delivery, a torque-sensing (Torsen) limited-slip differential is an available option coupled with Recaro front seats.
Please explain the Torsen differential, what it does and why it's better than stock (I need the crayon explanation).

I have not owned a car with Recaro's, I've only sat in them, are they comfortable for extended everyday driving and trips, or are the stock buckets gonna provide the best all-around comfort (concerned the wife will complain as well)?

The Torsen diff is a gear type limited slip, uses opposing gears inside to provide torque transfer from side to side instead of using clutches to do the work. The advantage being that if there are no clutches then they won't be there to wear out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsen

The Recaros look pretty comfortable, but we'll have to see. Being a taller guy, I am fond of race seats because of the headrest support, even though it isn't adjustable. Also, the bolstering might not be for everyone, especially the "wider" folks, because in a hard turn you'll feel like someone kicked you in the kidneys, and may end up pissing blood for a few days. (I kid, but it's not pleasant).
If you get a chance, go sit in an Evo X with Recaros. You'll notice right away getting out of them usually means sitting on the hip bolster. These look a little more manageable. Those will give you a good starting idea of what these might feel like.
So far, my list of Boss parts that I'd like to install on a GT are:
-Recaros
-shift ****
-X-brace (if I take out the back seats)
-front splitter (base, not LS)
-intake manifold & strut brace (preferrably without the Boss 302 on it, simply because it's not)

My only wishes: (First off, I LOVE the performance and handling aspect and wouldn't change a single thing. Honestly, I am still amazed that these thing are offered in a factory mass package, and not a super SE like the Cobra Jet. )
(1) Rear seat delete option for standard Boss 302
(2) With rear seat delete, include X-Cross brace
(3) More color choices, or custom color combos using existing Mustang palate.
Not too concerned with the electronics stuff. If it's there, I may get some, if not, that's what I have the fully loaded Cobra for. Don't need all that in what I plan on being a primary tracker.

I Have No Life
And they celebrated it based on previous years anniversary models.
So whether or not they choose to celebrate the car, OR the birthday based in the MY or CY is up to them.
You might want to read between the lines on this one....

I don't know why it's still being discussed. Is it not pretty obvious that we will see our 50th Anniversary Edition in April 2014, for the 2015 MY??

I doubt a 2 year run highly! Unless a Mach 1 comes along I see this staying until the next body style change.

Based solely upon what I've seen about the stripe and colour choices Ford made, along with the expected 2014 MY refresh, I am 100% confident that we'll see 2013 models based upon the 1970 colours and stripes. So if you really, really want a Grabber Blue BOSS, be patient and you will be rewarded.
