I know. I ain't buying it either. I dropped it off today, along with requesting the mirror be tightened (thanks Kelty) and the puddle lights be replaced. They look scratched or something. Just weird.

35,700 miles; take advantage of the factory warranty.

I literally just joined the forum because I'm having a vibration issue. I reported it months ago and have been struggling with the Ford shop to get a solution.

Specifically what rear end gear ratio?

PM Dyesha to open the ticket.

I imagine she is still following this thread, although if she is not I would not blame her. I held her to task in a pretty agressive manner.

Welcome to the forum, jstang12! I'm Crystal, I'll be helping out here while Deysha is on vacation. What's your Mustang's model year and mileage? Let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

Crystal

On my way to the dealership to test drive. According to the tech (via the adviser) problem is better but NOT solved.

More to follow.

Thanks farside and Crystal. I drive a 2012 V6 Premium with under 34k. I first went to the dealer regarding this back in October of last year when it only had 25k. The more I drive, the more concerned I am...

It's all stock, let me know about that test drive farside. Being that my pinion seal just went out, I have a feeling I'm headed in the same direction.

Well like I told Ford today. It's ok for now but from what I have seen it only lasts a couple thousand miles and starts up with issues again going by what others have said.

in the vehicle driving it now. Doing this by voice so no promises on spelling or punctuation. Nothing is fixed. Rear glass and mirror still rattle. Still strong vibration from 65 to 75 miles an hour. W... T... F...

Sounds like the tech didn't set the gears up right. I bet he took the old ones out and reused the old shim settings

Tech set it to .008. Is it different for Thorsen and standard rear ends?

Also, the tech said the old ring and pinion looked good, but the pinion bearing had some minor improper wear.

Thoughts?

I talked to my boss at work who's also a gear head and was an ASE mechanic for years, and he said setting that up takes an expert touch and he doubts most shops can do it right due to tight tolerances with shimming. I've always been a Ford guy, this one's the first I regret buying. Warranty doesn't mean much if there's an engineering issue. Stuck with payments in a car I don't want to drive. Crystal if you have any pointers going into this, let me know. They're replacing the vent and pinion seal as soon as they get the parts in. However, this isn't going to fix the vibration.

.008 is the lower end of the spec. I like a little more room and no it is not different for Torsen. If he is at .008 that should be ok at least you would not have noticed issues yet
