FYI - the procedure is simple:

1) Hook up VCM and IDS (of course)
2) In ToolBox menu to to Chassis
3) Select Braking
4) Select IVD Initialization Sequence
5) Follow instructions

It only takes a couple of minutes - you must be parked on LEVEL GROUND before you start.

Matt, are you still up for experimenting with the Track Key / Dual Path PCM? In particular, trying to see if you can write a custom tune file over the standard Track Key files that Ford installs with the Track Key. I still have the brand new red key and I have the Boss Track Key paperwork from Ford. I also have a '13 Boss 302 Cluster already installed, so I think I have everything we would need to make it work, (minus the Oasis program). your thoughts?
I found some dates I could be in KC or if you didn't have to bring too much stuff, I have some free Southwest flights. Could fly you down to ATX sometime, you could stay at our place and check the ATX scene.

Shifter is here!

But there is a problem ... I thought that the new shifter had the ability to manually go into 1 2 and 3 like the old shifter, but that is not the case. It only has drive and sport that enables the select shift.

I suppose I can just try putting in the shifter and see what happens - but I am almost certain that I will get an error when I try to put it into sport shift.

What parts would you need besides shifter for a full retrofit?

Interesting info today. Assisted a person with a Boss Cluster install in a Base GT. Originally assumed he had a manual. We did a manual install and everything was operable but his sport shift did not show up. We redid the asbuilt with programming for a premium auto and his Boss Cluster now has the Transmission Temp Gauge and his Sport shift shows up in the cluster. No myColor of course AJPTurbo

Here are the diagrams.

The circuit pathway int he SJB is slightly different. And the PCM does not have the pins for the wires for the sport shift. This means that if I simply plug in the new shifter that I will be unable to manually select 1 2 or 3. Putting the transmission into Sport mode will not work.

So, you basically don't have those pins in the PCM? That surprises me. Aren't those fully populated anyways? Bummer. It would only be like a ground wire (pin 5 from the shifter) and 3 addtl. wires to the PCM.

There is one on eBay that has all pins populated.

There are a number of differences:

2012 connector (307) to the autoshifter is a 6 pin connector but in the 2013 is a 12 pin connector.

So, yes, the 2012 has all pins filled. That is why in 2013 they switched to a larger 12 pin connector. The extra pins are used for the sport shift which go straight to the PCM. Those don't exist on the 2012.

Also, the pins 1 - 6 on the connector 307 are switched around. I may try repositioning those pins to match the 2013.

Manual guys have it soo much easier with this mod ...

Jim .. from what I saw .. the PCM hardware Part # for the Automatic didn't change from 2012 to 2013. You positive those pins aren't there? If they are you should be able to wire them up and be good to go ...

This weekend I will take a look and see if the pins are there. I would have to wire it up, though.

The connector on the PCM receives the wires from the sport shift at pins 23, 24 and 56. 23 and 24 are unused, and 56 looks to be used for something else.

But it is not plug and play like I was hoping ... or even a simple mod.

I have completely disassembled the shifter box I got. Mechanically, it is the same piece as what I have in the car. It is all about the electric signals being sent. The PCM now only recognizes the signals being sent from the (+ -) on the **** and not from the shifter being moved into the 1 2 3 spots. Mechanically, the transmission is still being put into those gears, but the PCM doesn't recognize this.

Actually, I do not know what sends a signal to the PCM that tells it when the car is in reverse, neutral, drive or whatever. There is nothing in the auto box that does it. Must be on the transmission itself.

Just looked at the connector 175B on the PCM. If I were to wire it up, pin 56 already has a wire there that I need to tap into, but 23 and 24 are empty. The PCM has the pins there, but the connector doesn't. I suspect it will work just fine if I put in the 2013 shifter and I will gain sport shift. Curiously, I will lose grade assist, but I could put the button somewhere else if I want to keep it. Redundant anyway.

But ...

... I REALLY don't want to wire something all the way from the shifter into the engine bay all the way to the PCM. I just don't want to do that.

Matt? Ideas?

One last thing to try before I try to wire this up is to see if I can figure out what the as built code on the PCM is for a 2012 auto vs a 2013/14 auto.

Dan, you wouldn't already know by any chance, would you?

Edit:

As Built won't work.

auto nav cars and auto non-nav cars have the same as built whether they are 2012 or 2013. Doesn't matter.

I guess I'm fishing wire through the engine compartment next week ...

Jim, I will do my best to get a look at this tomorrow. Send me an email tomorrow evening, dont let me forget!

If memory serves me correctly. You are going to have to populate the pins on the PCM for sport shift. You could actually simulate the switch (but you not have the capability) This would clear the codes being thrown, and you wouldn't need to run new wire.

On the other hand. I bet we could re purpose some existing wires.

I've been unable to figure out any codes really - especially the ACM. I can see what fields change depending on one option or another. But I have seen the same cars with the same options have slightly different codes in the ACM. No idea about the PCM.

I have tried several 2012 ACM AS-BUILT codes that have the rear parking sensor and the none of the codes will cause my radio to mute when the rear sensor beeps. If I plug in a 2013/2014 AS-Built it works fine.

Good luck with the shifter. Luckily my car is finished.

Yes, I already looked at the connector. Slots 23 and 24 need female pins. No problem there.

I need to put in the 2013 auto shifter. No problem there.

Sport Shift has a 12 pin connector instead of a 6 pin connector. Need to change that to accommodate the extra 3 wires for the Sport Shift. No problem there.

I need to run the 3 wires from the shifter all the way to through the firewall into the engine bay to the front of the car where the PCM is to connector 175B. Doable but going to be AWFUL!

Note - for others with an automatic looking to do this mod, you are better off getting a converter to get the digital guages and the cruise to work. Unless you really want sport shift.
