I'll have to rig it so that I can change between the 2 switches when they are doing their programming. I'll just have to have the switch dangling loose so I can change them out without taking the airbag off. I'm trying to see if I can get in tomorrow, but it looks like it will be next week.

Thanks for working on this, I've thought about it a zillion times, and how much I would love to have the new LCD screen.

You know, I can understand Ford not wanting to retrofit a Nav unit. That's a lot of stuff to deal with. But why not offer an aftermarket LCD screen upgrade to people? They could probably make some decent cash off of it.

They would rather you bought a new car from them. If the next model has enough toys, maybe you'll be tempted to upgrade to the next model.

Just installed 2013 steering wheel. As expected the arrow,ok and sync buttons all work fine with 2013 cluster installed. . Need to take a ride to see about cruise.

I just talked to the tech guy at United Radio in New York. He says that the dealer has to do the cluster and PCM programming. They may need to go into the programming and turn on each feature my car has, or just upload VIN info.

My car is going in on Tuesday for PATS. Programming might be down then, too.

Just took a test drive. Cruise works as described in the other forum. CNCL/RSM button sets Cruise to current speed. ON/OFF turns off cruise. SET - does nothing. SET + slows car down. I could not drive far enough without stopping to see if Cruise Control disables after a few minutes. There was NO LIGHT on 2013 cluster and I did not try 2012 cluster. I don't even see a CRUISE LIGHT on 2013 cluster at KEY ON.

Also ... here is the NAV error I get. Of course there are multiple things going on so not sure what is causing the error. 2013 Cluster not compatible. Swapping 2012 to 2013 cluster. Causing errors on the Bus while swapping. PATS error on 2013 cluster.

I also do not know the VIN of the car my Cluster came out of. Not sure of Transmission type or if had Navigation.

... sigh ...

Back to square one. Didn't anticipate the nav.

I did not get the nav error when I tried it last night. When does it pop up? Do you have to hit the map button? If so, I didn't do that.

While I was driving and switched to MAP screen it came up.

Then it comes up again when I set a destination and start the Navigation.

I beginning to see only see 2 ways this project is gonna work.

1) PCM/ACM?/ICM all need to be flashed with AS BUILT to appropriate 2013 VIN with correct options. (This would definitely be the best if it works)

2) Cluster needs to be flashed with 2012 AS BIULT and keep fingers crossed that LCD Still works. Then we can just wire an OK button and be done.

Keep in mind that we still have not been able to start car with 2013 cluster installed due to PATS. So that may solve some of the issues (like Track Apps and Nav)

Jim . do you have the VIN your cluster came out of to compare options? I am going to see if the guy I bought my cluster from can get the VIN from the salvage yard for my cluster.

You'll have to wait unitl I get home. I am going to stop by the dealership and find a car I can get a VIN from as well. I need a car that is automatic V8 with nav and SYNC.

OK .. I was able to wire in and test my custom "OK" button just in case the 2013 PCM flash doesn't work out.

Here is a pic of my rigging and a video of it working.

While this is certainly true, I think they could theoretically get away with certain things. I personally won't buy a new car just for this LCD screen. I would pay a certain amount (unsure how much really) to have it in my current car.

I suppose this is why they no longer update SYNC for my vehicle. . . (don't derail the thread on THAT topic).

Just got back from the dealer. They have 2014s on the lot already?!

Intersting thing for Canadians. 2013 GTs didn't have fog lights in the grill due to some Canadian rule, but these 2014s did have them. Interesting.

Here are some VINs:

1ZVBP8CF8D5272773 - 2013 Mustang GT/CS with nav, Sync, manual Canada car

1ZVBP8CF3D5222640 - 2013 Mustang GT with nav, Sync, manual, rear camera Canada car

1ZVBP8CF7D5235259 - 2013 Mustang GT Sync, manual USA car (my cluster came from this)

Good going on the switch! Nice.

I will go this route if the PCM won't work. I will try to see if I can modify the directional/ok buttons somehow into the light switch module.

Funny you had VIN with rear view camera. I noticed that my camera stayed on much longer than normal after I backed up and then started moving forward again with 2013 cluster installed.

There's an option for that in the settings. Maybe this got changed somehow?

do any if you guys have rear view camera display in mirror? Is that setting configured in cluster?? With my Nav the rear view camera setting are controlled from the Nav screen not the cluster.

FYI:

I have the new switches in, but the old cluster. Cruise is all wonky as dmhines described. It was probably the same when I had the new cluster in, I just hadn't figured it out. Definitely a PCM issue.
