Another trick... Get a 5 gallon bucket. Fill it up with about 4 gallons of gas. Now... take about a half cup of regular oil and a cup of the oil you think is syn. (The make up of regular oil causes it to have a blue hue to it when burned. Syn has a red hue... ) Now pour both in the 4 gallons of gas. The gas acts like a chemical neutrilizer and stablizer...
Now stand back about 3 miles and light the bucket on fire. If the flame is green (blue and red make green) then you have syn oil. If it's just blue. You got plain old oil....
It works... I read it on the internet!

If that's the case... Benji should have it back together by tomorrow...
I hope so. I am still concerned that they will decide that somthing else is broken in there and tell me they have to order more parts.
Well got off work and tried to get to jiffylube, but they were closed. Going to have to try for tomorrow during my lunch break. Anyone know where I can get my oil changed around the BA and 129th area?
There is a jiffy lube at 71st and memorial and one at 48th and sheridan. This one is probably your best bet. There is also a small shop on the corner of mingo and 51st st. I can't remember the name of it.
There's a place by my pad. Just north of 71st on Lynn Lane. It next to the Kum n Go (AKA- pump and dump, spew and split, Jiz and Jet, etc) on the east side of lynn lane.
Jarrod you need to buy a floor jack.
Thanks for the tip dave haha. I live in an apartment... all tools are at my brothers and fathers. also the jacks they have wont clear my car... need to make homemade ramps
Bring some 2x4 with ya on Saturday. I fab you some...
I'll see what I can do Pauly
HOLY CRAP! welp never going to pay someone to change my oil again. They put in the right oil well close.. moblile 1 5w30 full sythetic and a motorcraft filter. They problem was I was charged $72... did I get ripped off? what should it have been?
You got raped Jarrod! How does it feel? The 5w30 is too thick for our engines. I would drain that **** tonight and put in the correct stuff. I'll even bring you the ramps...
naaa i dont think its too thick... It should work fine
Talk to the guys on modularfords...they all think it is too thick...
Just talked to Bob at united ford service department. Told him what they put in it... he said 5w30 is just fine and i wont notice the difference. TOld him some of the guys that hvae mustangs and go to the track said that it is too thick for the car... he laughed and said no its just fine
hmmm now you have me wondering Jeff
It's up to you. It's probably fine with the hot weather. Take it out before it gets cold though...
I'd take it back... it clearly states on the oil fill cap the correct weight. If they didn't have it, they should have told you.
$72 is prison gang rape.... but all the places charge a premium for full syn...

It should be fine though... But these motors are built with pretty tight tollerances now-a-days. Thus the thiner oil...
Jeff.......are you going to stay with 5 - 20 , or are you going to go thicker with your new SC ?
