Added a MM roll bar, Cortex watts link, rear-seat-delete, and aluminum expansion tank. Took a video on the first nice day in months. I want to put in a strut tower brace, but I think it's gonna have to be a custom one - none of the existing ones will clear the air cleaner.

Ha I was just wondering where you've been! How's that watts link? I have always wanted to do a watts link on an SRA Mustang, but never got around to it. It'll be one of the last things I do to my car, just not sure whose I'll be going with. Cortex is local to me, but their stuff is so track oriented, that idk if it would be worth the extra cost for my street car.

Also, have you seen the Steeda STB that clears the Whipple upgrades on the GT500? That one might fit...

I installed starkey fog lamps, 18 in. gt500 wheels with cooper zeon tires and the grill with the coral around the pony. I also installed a strut tower brace with 3.7 emblem on it. what a job removing the bumper cover to install the grill and fog lamps. wish I knew how to display pictures here.

Looks and sounds good J. Have you thought about some deep dish chrome rims?

I'll check it out. It would be an extreme bummer to buy one only to find out that it doesn't clear the motor. :/

I checked with a local fab shop, and they said it would probably cost between $400 and $500 to make a custom part, and that DOESN'T count powder coating.

If you want a Watts link, I have a used Fays2 for sale for $450. That's less than half the price of a Cortex, not to mention you don't have to remove the diff cover to install it.

Chrome is verbotten on my car. I'm even considering painting or wrapping the dash to get rid of the chrome bezels. I'm also planning on painting the faux gas cap.

It's really hard to disagree with that sentiment (but there is a guy running around with a Kasse Bost 429 in his 2006 - I think that's what year it is - I think that's a little more badass than mine but not by much, of course )...

its a nice piece of machinery you've got there! The ONLY thing I would consider doing if it were my car would be to rip off those Shelby signs because, well, its not a Shelby.... It's much more than just that! I'd put some custom tags on that car. something that would make people see and hear your car and be like, huh?

awesome transformation, no doubt!

The problems with a "custom name" (and by reading this, you should be able to tell that I've put more than just a passing thought into the idea):

0) Finding suitable letters - Everything available that isn't the "SHELBY" letters looks like they came from deep in the bowels of the J.C. Whitney catalog. I ain't puttin' that crap on my car.

1) Cost - I have much better things to spend money on than paying for custom letters. If I could find someone that could make me aluminum letters for no more than $150, I'd more heavily consider it.

2) Letter count - whatever I change it to has to be an even number of letters (to avoid problems with the odd letter landing right at the splitter in the hood scoop), and can't be any longer than 8 characters. This alone is the main reason I haven't done it - it's hard to come up with something that sounds appropriate with these rather sever limitations.

3) No matter what I choose for a name, I'll get grief. Besides, I've seen cars with "names" on them and quite frankly, every one I've seen was kinda stupid. I've never seen one that really works with the car. In point of fact, I was getting grief from people because of the hood and the stripes - LONG before I put the Shelby letters on it.

4) I'd rather spend a few seconds correcting people when they call it a Shelby rather than several minutes explaining the name I gave it.

Besides all that, the only people that seem to care about how I badge the car are non-Shelby owners. I'm puzzled as to why that is, especially when I clearly refer to it as a Shelby Tribute in my forum sigs and at car shows. I agree, though - it's more than just a Shelby.

jsimmons i think it's just fine as is. custom name or shelby matters not. I get some automatic "shelby's park over there..." when driving into car shows, until i correct them

Ironically most of my mustang friends locally have actual shelby's with paperwork and signature plates but we all git along just fine. (at least to my face lol)

P.S. I keep replaying those soundbytes of yours. <drool>
