Wider front tires will still pull you into the turn with more guts.

And another thing...Never tell me to slow down! Life is short, Drive faster.

Yes wider fronts will allow the vehicle to have a more neutral feel. This is great for handling, but can get people over their heads. As for slowing down, thats how to properly attack a corner. Slow in...fast out. Try picking up Skip Barber's "Go Faster" book at Barnes and Noble, it will teach you how to properly turn, brake, setup a race car, etc.

Some people don't need a "how to" book to drive. I take turns how you said... slow in, fast out... and obviously always hit the apex. That's just instinct for me. Didn't need to read a book. When you drive enough, you learn what to do to get the most out of the car you are driving. But I can assure you that 255's instead of 235's will put more rubber on the road and will improve handling. I am sold on 255's now, without a doubt.

Well I am not going to argue with you, but everyone can use instruction. I am sure if you read Skip's book you would learn a lot or even went to a driving school. I guess you are the guy who I smoke at the track because he doesn't feel he can learn anything. FYI...even professionals need to be taught, look at Bondurant's list of professionals that they have taught.

As for going with wider tires, my opinion is if you are going to spend the money, you might as well get the stickiest max performance tires.

I'm sure if I read the book, I'd learn some stuff too. That's what instructional books are for. I'm just making a point that I don't need to read a book to know how to take a turn. Most people don't. And you certainly don't need to be telling people to read a book... implying that they don't know how to take a turn. We are talking about wider tires here... not driving skill. 38special went out and bought some wider rubber and says that it handles better. And he was saying that putting 255's on the front also is better than just the back. What does that have to do with skill? Whether you are 16 and just starting to drive, or a professional, you are gonna have better handling with the BFG 255's than the stock 235 Pirellis.

And another thing... as far as spending the money to get the best tires. The man got BFG G Force. Those are plenty good. If you got the money to get the best, go for it. The way I see it... get a decent tire but don't go out and spend the most money on the best tires if you don't need them. Sure, if you race your car on a track, or need that. But most people just want a decent tire that sticks. Especially on a Mustang. Tires go a bit quicker than on that Maxima of yours.

No hard feelings, I have read his posts and he makes the car seem unstable while cornering. This is not the case from my test drive, where I pushed the car hard on an on-ramp. I figured that maybe it was the driver not the vehicle. You can have warm Goodyear racing slicks on the Stang and if the driver doesn't know how to handle the vehicle, how well do the tires make a difference?

As for tires, BF goodrich KWDS's are great tires for all seasons. Mine lasted 15k miles(85% highway) on my Maxima because I took it to a HPDE. Again, I personally would have bought a "max" performance summer tire such as the S03 or G Force KD. You can use those types of tires on street/track. I am of the philosophy that I should purchase parts that make me go as fast as possible.

I am sure that we all know how to drive here folks. My experience with the stock tires vs the stock goodyears on my old 03 was like night and day. Ford made a big mistake, on par with GM's GTO and the crummy tires that they put on them.

The last place I would think that I would have to instruct any one on the art of driving, would be a site dedicated to Mustang enthusiasts. :nono: My purpose was to warn folks that this car has more power than the last version and went to crap for tires. This is dangerous. Ford should have known better than this.

By the way, if I had as much money as max0002jp I would buy Michillens. Maybe some day I will be worthy enough... :worship:

The Pirelli M/S tires that come standard on the car are some of the best ultra high performance a/s tires you can buy, per the tire rack rating system. They surpass the KWDS in pretty much every catagory. The evidence shows that the stock tires are perfectly fine for a stock vehicle. People have pulled 1.86 60' times and the car .87 G's(C&D) on the skidpad. That would suggest that the stock tires are pretty competent. Therefore, I would say that they are no way dangerous unless you are doing something stupid.

Looking at it from an enthusiast's viewpoint, I would have liked to seen summer 285/40/18s standard all around. Wider tires will be part of the Cobra along with a larger price tag. BTW...I wouldn't buy Michelins because they are way overpriced. I am going to buy Kuhmo MX's or Toyo T1-Rs(when released).

Tire choice can also be a subjective thing that numbers alone cannot convey. While the P-Zero Neros are a fine tire, I think it's the size that got lost in the shuffle.

Can't have everything

An 8 inch tire vs a 10 inch tire. 10 inches gets you better handling on similar tires.

I think some are just looking for an argument. :bang: That clinic is right up the street.

"No its not", "Yes it is"....yada yada yada.

Since people bugged me about it...

A picture from the front would show the difference in the tires real well or as Elmer Fudd would say: "wheel well"
I have a new camera coming, ordered last Saturday. Will get some good shots.

I used to be a store guy until I saw the $$$$$$$$$$ I could save ordering stuff! Don't have the car yet but the BGF were like around $130 at Tire Rack plus $45 Shipping - Store I checked had him on sale at $190.

Can't have everything

Basically I like to drive fast. In order to do that safely in the corners, I demand a wider tire. Ford gave me that on my 02 coup and my 03 GT Vert. I was spoiled from that point on.

So you are right, IMO the P-ZEROS do not do the same job as my stock 03. Yes they do cause the car to drift at the wrong time. Try changing lanes at 120mph with 8 inch vs 10 inch tires. They may be a good tire on another car, but they have failed the Mustang test for me. :notnice:

I even put my money where my mouth is and stopped complaining and switched them for BFG G Force. But I respect the Pirellis tire enough to put it on my 02 since my fiance's driving habits are not the same as mine, plus they should do better if we get snow and I worry about her when the weather is bad.

My 02 still has the original tires on it too. I gave it to my fiance with 22K miles on it and she has put 2.5K on it in the last year!

You keep saying 8" tires....you really mean 9-1/4"....that's what the stockers are and you went to 10 inch wide with the BF's. Right?
