Car: sold a '93 GT, missed it every day since. Counting the days 'til the 500hp 5.4 SVT is released.

Crazyhorse are you going to get an SVT Cobra when they come out?
I have already verbally reserved a "mental spot" with a dealer friend of mine. He won't take my deposit yet. As soon as the car is revealed I plan to give him a deposit and solidify the deal. We have agreed on no dealer markup, but, he wants MSRP. I have never paid MSRP before. In this case, I don't mind. Usually the first several cars are marked up above MSRP.

The rumors are mid 2006 for release. They are expecting late spring early summer. I got that from a couple of articles and from calling and talking directly to SVTs Customer Service people.

I am wondering if what they unveil on March 23rd will be what hits the local dealerships come production time. I hope it is not like the concept for the 2005 GT. Allot of really nice things were missing come production time.
I agree there was a big difference, and that was my point. The production GT that we have now is missing allot of nice things that the concept car had. I am only hoping that the Mustang Cobra released in the NY. auto show, will be what we see when it hits the local dealerships.

Will the 07 Cobra have any upgrade options? The 05 GT has a bunch of upgrades that can make the car really expensive... Does the Cobra already have all the feetures you need (i.e. leather, good stereo, wheels, etc.)?

wonder if its going to look a lot like a regular mustang like previous years... Hope it looks different. (ducktail, flaired bumpers, etc. would be nice)

Not that it means anything, but, the last time they revealed the "Terminator" concept it was basically the exact same thing we got. They may be looking for public reaction this time. Like "I won't buy it without IRS, etc."

Once again, not sure it means anything, especially since SVT is under new management, but, the old Cobras were fairly well dressed and only had minimal options. The previous ones had only chrome wheels vs aluminum and spoiler delete option. There were no stereo options and did not come with the Mach 1000 system. Styling, hard to tell what they will do with that. If it is a Shelby, it will be dressed up more. I personally like the subdued styling of the previous Cobras.

Good find. I quit scanning BON a long time ago.

Guess I know what I'll be doing at 1:00 on the 23rd. Hopefully, they will have a live webcast like GM did with the Z06.

I hope to see a live webcast as well. I mentioned that a couple times in previous threads, but not to much interest on it. If GM did it for the Z06, Ford shoudl do it for the Cobra. Would be great for us that live in the midwest and can't get there.

According to SVTOA, 20 or so lucky souls will find out on the 22nd (two weeks from tomorrow) what the Cobra Concept is all about. I'm betting someone from that event will post pictures/info.

I found it quite interesting that it was called the next SVT Mustang and not the next SVT cobra ....

I sure hope so. I would think that someone from here or SVTperformance would be going. I doubt Ford will allow pics yet.

Here's my guess:

GT 500 w/5.0 cammer engine (just like GTr but street legal)
GT 350 w/4.6 supercharged
GT 4.6 engine
v6 4.0 engine

I think you'll see the 5.4 be saved for the Lightning. 5.4 supercharged Lightning known as Tritan Force. Sounds pretty cool.

Let's not start that debate again. Wakerider, look up old threads, there are many on IRS vs Solid rear. Decide on your own. Won't matter much if it is not offered.

The 22nd? The NYIAS is open to the press on the 23rd.

It is a sneak, sneak preview for just 20 SVTOA members. They should've opened it to the powerlease customers. That would've been cool.
