Shrimp Creole on white rice. With plenty of iced tea to offset the hot sauce.

Haven't cooked a big meal in a while, so tonight I'm gonna make a good ol' country supper. BBQ pork chops on the grill, a pot of white/pinto beans with a ham hock, mashed taters, mac & cheese, fried okra and cornbread.

And I might throw a couple pieces of Conecuh on the grill too just for the hell of it, because a few bites of Conecuh makes any meal better.

Had the beans cooking all afternoon, starting to get good now. Pork chops and Conecuh ready to go on soon. Gonna be a good supper.

I grilled the other night and burned it. So ashamed.
Instead of my normal Kingsford briquettes, I decided to try the natural hardwood charcoal. That stuff gets twice as hot as briquettes and I used too much. Lesson learned, meal ruined, but that natural charcoal is pretty sweet. Gonna have to use it more often. Just not as much of it.

I like the hardwood charcoal because it doesn't have the packing and binding stuff in it that kingsford does. I can taste the difference now after using it for a couple years.

Made a pot of beef stew this afternoon; it turned out pretty well. I'll finish off the leftovers later in the week.

That sounds good. I wanted something hot! **** power didn't stay on long enough for the crock pot to finish heating its contents.

Came home to dinner (chicken enchilada casserole) and a movie! His and hers valentine's gifts, cuz we're cheap and would rather spend our money on other stuff. Liberty Ale! And even desert!

Same here. You go to any hole in the wall "meat and 3" place for lunch and macaroni is always listed as one of the vegetables you can choose from. We even refer to it like that in my family.

Someone will say "hey, lets fix vegetables for supper one night this week". And the reply will usually be "what do you want to fix? Corn, okra, mashed taters, turnip greens, beans and cornbread, macaroni and cheese?"
