Haven't driven the 500 in over a month. Now its cool, dry and crisp here. Curious how its going to feel after driving the old Exploder all these weeks and the last time I drove the 500 it was hot and humid as ****. Might have to try it out tomorrow, supposed to be in the 60s.

Hey Gary, how much does Chantix cost, and does insurance cover any of it. Does it work? I'm thinking seriously about quitting. I ended up smoking about 2 packs a day when I was on vacation and could hardly breathe when I woke up (not normal for me), I need to do something. I'm getting too old for this ****.

However, I really am afraid of gaining weight after I've worked so hard to lose 50lbs and am trying to lose another 20.

I've quit smoking three times now lol

First time cold turkey after a nasty sinus infection made me not want to smoke at all so I had a 5 day head start and decided awe **** it I'll quit. That lasted 4 years.

The second time was much the same except when I went to get antibiotics the doctor also prescribed me Chantix. I think it was like $150 and we had insurance. The first week I think you smoke while you take it and then it gives you strong doses that get weaker as the weeks go by. After a month I couldn't take it anymore cause it will give you some ****ed up dreams. It made me very anxious too. I was to the point that to me Chantix felt more dangerous than being won't out cigarettes without meds.

And of course this last time I quit after being in hospital for 14 days and then giving me a few patches for the next two weeks while I was at home recuperating. Plus the whole being sick and dying thing made quitting easier. After being in the hospital there's no way I wanted cigarettes to put me back I'm the hospital ever.

And yes. I gained 50 pounds that second time. Within a year. That was of course after I had lost 50 pounds right before I quit smoking.

As of now I'm the same weight I was when I first went into the hospital. I'm trying to get rid of it but at least I'm not adding to it.

I quit once.

For 12 weeks.

In 30+ years.

Thanks for the encouragement, mother ****er.

And I don't think the dreams from chantix could be anymore ****ed up than the ones I already have. I have terrible nightmares every night, if they are worse than what I already live with, I'll never quit.

I guess it will take a serious health crisis to quit, which I don't suspect will be very long from now. I've kicked so many bad drug habits, I just can't let that one go, I kind of hold on to it as a relic and tell myself that its all I've got left and praise myself for kicking all of those other things.

I know it sounds stupid, but you would have had to have been there to know.

Well I've quit all my other habits small as they were.

Now I'm down to food. Try as I might I just can't go without it.

I've always been a big (fat boy) since middle school. At one point in my late teens, early 20s I weighed close to 300lbs, well 278. I went from that to 160 in 10 months when I was "sick" and I'm over 6' tall. Everyone thought I had aids or cancer, lol, they didn't know how ****ed up I was. When I got clean I gained weight back and fluctuated for many years. A few years ago I realized I was back up to around 260 and started to do something about it and lost 50lbs back down to 205 or so. And I'm not muscular because I can't work out because of physical conditions. I really want to lose another 20 but just haven't been able to. I've quit eating fast food for several years and anything deep fried, even though I love it. I have to admit that since I've quit eating it, I can't eat it anymore without getting really sick. If I try to eat fried chicken and other heavily fried meals I get so bloated and sick I'm miserable for days. I also quit drinking soft drinks about 9 years ago, only have a splash of one from time to time with something else, lol. I mainly only drink water, many bottles a day and an occasional cup of milk when I think I can handle it giving me the sheets, lol.

If I do eat fried stuff its in small quantities, a few fries, a little fried okra, etc. as a side. Everything else on the plate is grilled or baked or boiled or broiled.

So I guess I'll just have to keep smoking if I'm going to gain a bunch of weight, lol

They say the weight gain is not metabolic. Its the years of hand to mouth conditioning - but now instead of a cigarette, its food. Nibble here nibble there. Focus on conquering that habit while keeping the carbs low and you shouldn't gain any weight.

As far as chantix goes, Gary proved it doesn't work. Only an artificial colon sewn to your side for 6 months breaks the smoking habit. So there's that option.

That's what it was for me

It was not metabolic. It was always shoving stuff in my mouth. And not in a gay way. Pervs!

I guess that explains why we're all so out of shape.

23-year old Ashley Willburn was westbound on Highway 140 when she drifted onto the shoulder, overcorrected, and went off the roadway and into the water. Willburn was taken to Skylakes Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening. Willburn was cited for Carless Driving.
