The one I'm looking at does have more stuff than the one I had, but the mechanical/frame basics are the equivalent of it. Its got power steering, disc brakes, power deck height adjustment on the fly at the touch of a switch, tilt steering wheel, adjustable seat, cup holder, storage compartment, 12V outlet, 25 amp alternator, etc.

Don't know if I ever mentioned what happened. I was mulching leaves and they were heavy. Well those Cub mowers had a space in front of the motor and the exhaust (V-twin engine) was routed up there and the muffler was in front of the engine with the exhaust coming out by the front bumper.
Leaves got packed in there around the exhaust and it went up in mere seconds when they caught on, which led right to the fuel line and carb (and oiled air filter), and it just snowballed from there. It was out of control, 10ft high flames literally within 1 minute and I was at least 100 yards away from a water hose. It was a bad scene man.

We used the crap out of that thing between mowing a huge yard and the yard next door (renters), light duty snow plowing, as well as my dad pretending he was a farmer with that garden (from hell!). He bought a small plow, cultivator, and harrow, and we modified, sawed, bolted and adapted it so it would work with the Cub. But I had to ride as weight on the implements. lol
That thing lasted for years.
All the reader comments on most of the sites about other brands are that they are either trash out the get go, or within the first year or so. I have not read anything good about the new V-twin on some other brands.

My dad had one in the 60's that lasted for years and had none of that fancy stuff. Long before big box special edition el cheapo.

Not sure yet what I'm going to do. I've talked to the guy and I can get it for $5K ($900 below msrp, I've got an old friend that is part owner of the dealership) and Cub is offering 0% financing for 48 months right now on it. I asked if he could do any better if I paid cash and he said no, that was his best price. So the free money for 48 months sounds pretty good if I can't get it any cheaper paying cash.

What do you think Charlie? On an amount that low would you finance it or just buy it? On one hand free money is free money, but on the other I could pay cash and be done with it.

After getting me hooked on LED flashlights, I took the next step.
Pretty much went 90% LED's in the house this week. I hate those stupid CFL's and can't believe so many power companies subsidized those awful bulbs for so long, filling homes with mercury. Which has kept LED's too high priced since they weren't getting the volume.
This week Costco has LED's with a power company instant rebate that knocked 50% off!! So I went for it. Instant on, great light.
3 - 40w equiv for $10.99 net (7.5w usage), 60w equiv for 5.99 net (13.5w usage). The 40's are great for my ceiling fan's 3 bulbs, and even work great in my eyeballs (which were 50w spots). I had 4 - 40w clear (make-up?) bulbs in the bath, but 4 of the 40 LED's (30w usage v 160w) are actually brighter (maybe because they're frosted instead of clear?).
They all look so great I want to leave the lights on! lol

I'm the same way Charlie, but this is such a small amount over such a small period of time. And I think if I paid cash I could get him to "massage" the sales tax which would help me. I did think about it helping credit wise, but my credit is about as high as you can get. My FICO is up there, WAY up there. Hell, when I bought the 500 it was late in the afternoon and I was paying cash (well a personal check) but my bank was closed already so the only way they would take the check was to run a credit report.
I was irritated about it, but I understood that they couldn't let someone drive off with a car that stickerd close to $60K with only a piece of paper that I signed.
He came back and told me to take it home, that I had the highest credit score of anyone he had ever ran, and he had worked there for 10 years.
But I'm like you Charlie, I'm a cheap ****. A dollar is a dollar. I'll do some figuring if I decide to buy it, the sales tax paying cash could be the difference.
My God we sound like cheap bastards.

Wish I could have brought the 13 but I need to save the miles on her
Insurance only allows 3000 a year and I'm gonna use most of that to Charlotte and back
Plus honestly I'm downtown and it's valet and I don't trust anyone
