I'm just as curious about the need for the spacer as I am about the requirement to run 275/35s over 275/40s

 

Where can we get the standard boss glass black 19s non LS package wheels?

 

Hey, I noticed there are some doubts about running 275/40/18s in the front. Well, I've been using a square setup in this size with Nitto NT05s for a couple months now and my car is a daily driver. I took it to an HPDE with this setup and I can confirm there is absolutely no rubbing anywhere. If you want to stay close to the stock circumference then this is your best bet. A 35 profile would be a better match with a 285 width tire; which by the way looks do-able with the stock suspension.

Oh, and I've been using the Enkei PF01s 9.5" with 45 offset, if anyone's curious. Fits very nicely, clearing the front brakes with PLENTY of clearance - no spacers of course. Wheels weigh ~21 lbs so a huge improvement over the chunky stock ones. They don't break the bank either. You don't have to be stuck with 19" rims for this car!

 

Hey thanks a lot for posting. You're the guy I've been waiting for! I have a set of PF01s for my GT500 18 x 9.5 front (45mm offset) and 18 x 10.5 rear and they work great with no rubbing issues. Of course the GT500 comes stock with an 18 x 9.5 wheel with 45mm offset, so they obviously would fit up front.

I ordered a square set of PF01s for the Boss 18 x 9.5 (45mm offset) and they're sitting in my garage waiting for tires. I had been holding off due to the questions about clearance on a GT or Boss. That's great news. I really would prefer to run a 40 to keep closer to the stock diameter, at least until/if I decide to lower the Boss.

 

Any word on the Boss steering wheel? It seems like everything elase is available except for the seat delete and steering wheel. I searched but came up with nada.

 

No problem! Glad I could help out. Not sure how much you're planning on lowering it or how low the Boss sits, but you'll be impressed with how much room you have to play with before you have to start messing around with camber settings. I'm waiting on my order for Koni struts before I put on my Steeda Sport springs but I'm positive the wheel setup will be perfect even after lowering it an inch.

But yeah, it's tough to find a working performance wheel setup since so much of the Mustang aftermarket is flooded with heavy, oversized "bling-bling" wheels.

 

The Boss is lowered about 7/16 inch (11MM) from the GT in the front so should be fine from the factory.

I hear you on the lack of lightweight wheels that don't cost $1100. The PF01s are great wheels, both in terms of performance and how they look. I weighed them right at 20lbs. before TPMS and balancing weights. My stock GT500 wheels were 29 lbs and I'm betting the stock Boss wheels will be in the same ballpark.

06GT: backspacing on the Boss 302 wheels is 7.2" (183mm). They look great by the way...sitting in my garage waiting for the Boss to arrive!

Yea seems kind of crazy. I've never been this close to the front end of production on a car before though. However, most of the cars I've bought were first year models, just bought off dealer lots.
