The R version will be north of 90k if they do the same seam welding they did for the Boss version...

Not that I'm complaining mind you as I think the GT350 will be a **** fine street car with serious track capability where the Z/28 is a great track car that also happens to work on the street.
Hopefully Ford has a GT350R waiting in the wings specifically to embarrass the Z/28
Spot on bro.
I will agree. Not crapping on GT350 car, just thinking the Z28 is still a bit better at the road course because of what it is equipped with.

That argument is going to irritate me for a while. There'll be a bunch of ignorant Camaro fans going on about how Ford couldn't beat the Z28. They're not trying to! They wanted the 350 to be a track capable but road performance car. It's a little softer, with a bit better road tire. Ford knows that the extreme majority of 350's will never see track time, and chose to focus on road quality.

I would think so as well, purely based on the fact that the Z28 is ~$20k more than the GT350. This car will beat 1LE, and I really think it will be relatively close to Z28. I think it will be a difference of ~1.7 or 2.5s on Tracks like Laguna Seca or Streets of Willow. For a $50k car that would be astonishing lap times.

It doesn't bother me at all.

Sounds like it's replacing the BOSS then (which I haven't heard anything about being made on the S550). Thing sounds BADASS. And, at least from this profile, looks the most like a Mustang I've seen out of any of the 2015 pics I've seen. I'd take one

Me thinks there are going to be lots of GT owners that do a bumper swap

I agree.
There are definite body changes on that car. The stance for one is killer.
The wheels and brake package look nasty. Definitely made for actual road racing. Looks like lower body splitters all around as well.

Additional pics + a few interior shots. Alcantara overload. The Recaro's look a bit more aggressive as well.

Let's see how these cars compare on a track before declaring victory or defeat based on paper specs that have not been fully disclosed.

This sounds a lot like the Boss side pipes with the restrictors removed to me.

Unhappy

I want one of these! This is what I had in my mind when I bought the 2014, but the 2015 GT didn't do it for me, so I settled. Now I wish...

This car levels the playing field. Its easy to tell it meets and even more likely exceeds the Z-28. I just can't believe some think it will fall short, by the slightest fraction. You must be scared of your own shadow to even think like that.

I worked on the Z28. I got to drive one pretty hard on a closed course. It comes with tires which have a wear rating of 40. That's right ... 40. That's 3-4 track weekends. And it can sustain over a G in a corner. Plus there is a wonderful suspension and the 480 pound feet of tq. This is a purpose built track car which happens to be juuuust tame enough for street use. That's why.

I choose the Mustang on looks and value. But you have to give credit where credit is due. Then there is the history that 1LE Camaros have versus 2013/14 TP cars and 2015 PP car. Not good for the Mustang. What logical reason do you have to expect a $50k car beats a $75k car?
