I'm thinking the TR-6060 can't take the higher RPM's. The 3160 is also lighter. It's supposed to be a more beefed up version of it though, so I wonder if they added more weight anyway.

Great photos.

I know my eyesight is not that good these days but is the battery missing from the engine compartment which would mean it would be located in the trunk as in the early '65 GT350 cars?

It's hard to tell because the 05-15 have them behind the passenger strut tower area, and the 2015 has added a cover over it...

Wonder what the battery cover is for ? To prevent heat from discharging perhaps

Weight and power absorption most likely.

Cost could be a factor? The 3160 might be cheaper despite the upgrades as well or not.

The TR6060 is a variation of the T56 which backed the FR500 race cars and the TR6060 backed the Boss 302S so RPM isn't really an issue (although Ford seems to be cagey about the 302R transmission just saying its an integrally shifted 6 speed for the R).

They don't generally engage in that pissing contest with GM and everybody else.

To many variables effect a 'ring run. Ford uses the track to validate its cars keeping the times to themselves for better or worse.

The down side other than not letting Ford's fan club having something to crow about seems to be brand-X guys automatically assuming Ford couldn't get a good number

So, no Ford sponsored 'ring time.... Next question is when they'll show up to media test. Should be interesting in SCCA next year as well..
