How about pilot super sports standard issue, sport cups as an option or standard on "R" model? That makes more sense to me..: that way you can compete with the z28 with the bad boy tires, but keep a more appropriate street:track tire for the majority that would drive it primarily on the street... All of this is just spitballing but still...

We did see two different cars tested on the ring in those spy videos a while back... I think the R is likely

Agreed, I'd like to see R compound tires, carbon ceramic brakes, and awesome spool valve dampeners as R model items for the GT350. I'd hate to see it so equipped out of the gate.

Granted this flies in the face of what I said about the GT perf pack being a bit too soft but I'm not interested in a Z/28 killer from the get-go. I'd rather have an option in place to take it to that level.

Those are basically GTs w/strips. Appearance wise, the GT350 will have a different from clip, hood, rockers, rear valance, wheels, etc...

A lot of chatter around the gt500 replacement being a twin turbo set up to attack the hellcat...
Also could have a Focus RS coming stateside (a long time coming) and that is rumored to have the 2.3 from the Eco Stang only uprated to 350 hp and have awd.

As for the "free revving" comment, my assumption is that is aimed at the 5.2 flat crank that sounds like it could be what's idling at the end of all of these videos lol make it the 17th now please!

I agree with this. I recall seeing vids of two prototype Stangs looping the Ring with somewhat different bodywork and two different sounds: one lumpy (bent crank?) one with hints of turbo noises, the other with a smoother, revvier (flat crank?) sound. Perhaps the 11/17 reveal will be for a pair of Stangs?

Might not be a mustang at all.. There have been rumors of a Ford GT successor around for a while too..albeit no spy photos like the ones we have of the Mustang.

Possibly, and that would be awesome, but I suspect that, given the GT 350s have been circling the Ring -- usually indicating a public release within a few months -- that it will likely be at least the GT350, maybe a GT500, and on the outside a new Ford GT or Focus RS.

I think the announcement is going to be the GT350...it's a poorly kept secret.

If the 11/17 announcement turns out to be something else, it would be a wonderful surprise...since there's little doubt that they'll announce the new Shelby eventually.

I'm reaaalllly hoping that this is a NA powered car as much of the speculation indicates that it is. If so, it's likely to cost less than a GT500 or a Hellcat which means that an average working Joe might actually aspire to own one (unlike a new mid engine Ford GT).

Agreed. And offer with a sliding panoramic roof so I can't trade my 14 for it

I'm betting is is the new GT350. They showed a mustang with Cross drilled brakes, and Recaros. So a 5.2L Flat Crank NA V8 is what's supposed to be under the hood...

Any guesses on power ratings? If it's N/A I'm going with 480-500. Followed by

I'm not sure that I agree. I think a 500hp NA V8 that revs to 8000 RPM and sounds like the flung-open gates of hell would be absolutely delightful.

If they take any measures to trim the pork back to S197 levels, firm up the suspension I will have to re-think my life priorities.

By the way,
What do you guys think about the "350" referring to dislacement? I realize that it's a "heritage name" but with "SRT392" out there, there is a precedent...in which case, could this be a 5.7L version of the Coyote architecture?....or is that outside of what the block can handle?

Considering every Joe Shmoe with a 5.0 can get it to 500 crank-hp with basic bolt-ons, I think it would be super-lame of FORD to work so hard at a new engine, a bigger engine, and have it only deliver 480-500 hp.

It would suck major hairy donkey *****

...and what do you suspect a stock/OEM reliable/warranty-covered 500hp engine could be tuned up to?
