Didn't some ask for a 4 door stang or was that a joke? I think the new stang front end might resemble the fusion but it will definitely be more aggressive and sporty. The fusion will be the tame 4 door family car. Best of both worlds IMO

 

Of course I won't believe it until I see it but the Corvette does weigh 3300lbs confirmed and an S197 Mustang weighs about 3600 or 3700lbs and very good sources say the mustang will shed 400lbs and that brings us to between 3200 and 3300lbs and boosting the Coyote engine up to 450hp is not unrealistic. They say the car will be about an inch and a half narrower and 15 inches shorter plus use a lot of light weight materials. Even if they only get half of the weight off and come in at 3400 or 3500lbs it will be about a K & N air filter from running with a much more expensive Vette. I don't think I am that far out of bounds. Either way I am in more of a market for the Shelby GT350 or Saleen upgrade so Vettes won't matter to me but the new GT will perform better than anything from the mustang stable we have seen before.

 

I live on the net reading every tid bit I can find about the car and multiple sites say 450 from reliable sources. 450hp is less than a 10 percent bump over the the 2014. This is less of a jump between the 2004 mustang which had 260hp vs the 2005 which came out at 300hp. It isn't a stretch to think we will get a 40 or so hp jump.

 

People are really knocking the Fusion resemblance but nobody says the fusion front end is ugly. The new mustang is modern, sleek and sophisticated looking. Yes the new Corvette is gorgeous but it is retro and retro is on its way out. Call it a 2 door fusion all you like but I am telling Ford I am in!

Call me the Mustang Oracle because I said it first! The new mustang GT will have 450hp, perform and handle better than any factory Mustang GT every made, It will out perform the new Camaro, Barracuda, Challenger, Charger etc... and it will give the new Corvette a darn good run for its. After taking a big puff the mustang smoke I am smoking I say "Motor Trend Car of the Year" Yes Mustang_Lurkers said it first! So if it doesn't happen all you guys and girls can troll me all you want if it doesn't happen. But before you troll me keep in mind that when the platform changed in 1994 the mustang was Car of the year, when it changed again in 2005 it was runner up for car of the year and got ripped off by the Chrysler 300 That won't happen this time. 2015 Mustang will be car of the year. So who is smoking that with me??????

 

Don't worry. James Bond drove Astin Martins and it worked for him and since this thing looks similar maybe it will work for us.

 

i think the car looks more like the fusion...like everyone is saying...not that fusion is a bad car but i dont want my "muscle" car to resemble my "family" car, just kinda waters it down a little....like putting racing stripes on a minivan...
unless the back end is what puts this car over for me and makes me want to buy it, i think ill be buying pre-2015 models from here on out.... the 05 concept didnt have to grow on me...i knew from the instant i saw that, i had to get one and i did in my 2006, but this 2015 model doesnt scream at me like the 05....sorry ford, it was a nice try but i hope i eat my words in saying that i think its the death of the mustang....(oh and thanks to the Govt for ruining the car industry too..)

So far... "If" this is the front, then I like it... a lot... and while I haven't read the entire thread, everything that mustang_lurkers has said on this page is definitely plausible...
You guys have to let the S197 mystique go a little and embrace the new gen... It's coming whether you like it or not.

 

Seriously? Please say you're kidding. Can you imagine if the new Stingray looked any thing like the Impala or Camaro how upset those Corvette owners would be? The Mustang is such an iconic automobile for Ford and frankly the whole world. It should stand out from the whole line up of Fords just like the GT! IMO An aggressive and sporty look alike Fusion is an a front to every Mustang owner past, present and future no amount of Mustang badging can change that! Carroll Shelby is probably rolling over in his grave!
