Front fascia caught uncovered during testing 8/20
I guarantee the majority of enthusiasts will fall in love with the 2015 Mustang. This car will have the upscale look and feel of cars twice its price. The performance will outshine any Mustang that came before it. Ford has really outdone itself this time. On a tech front it will amaze. I daily drive a 2006 Fusion were the mp3/6 disc was cool at the time.
Recently I spent 10 days in an Escape...The EcoBoost 2.0 is awesome. The Sony system...NAV...Self Parking...hands free liftgate...etc all take it to another level. Even the touchfeel points are better...the guage/mood lighting high class. No worrys on Mustang going back to halogens...all cars are LED. This is gonna be big...I was there for the 2005 launch but his will be bigger/better. I will always have a soft spot for my old 1993 Coupe...the Terminator...the 08/09 Bullitt...the Boss redo...but if and when the time comes this next one should be a keeper.

Many of you see the fusion face, which I actually understand.
But to me I still see the old GT500
So I guess you can see anything you want. I still don't understand the "I wanted something more drastic" when all I hear is I wish it was an s197. Well there are plenty available for purchase. I think when this car rolls down the street you will be thinking Mustang rather than Fusion. If it were a Fusion coupe it would look identical to an Altima coupe. Some people thought it was great.
Ford was damned if they did, damned if they didn't. By all means I'm surprised they cared what people thought.

1) Because they don't want anyone to know what is going to look like exactly before the date marketing has in mind.
2) To have some laughs.
3) If this were the real front end someone at Ford could lose their job over this.
The sensors on the wheels and the covering on the back shows they aren't testing anything related to aerodynamics or body related at all. There's no reason to have the front end uncovered so it's likely disguised in some other way. This looks like they grabbed some pre-production Fusion parts out of the junk pile and bolted them on there the best they'd fit. Used some tape to fill in gaps.... presto!
The real question is what do they get by leaking the real front end?
Some internet buzz? Perhaps that's worth it, but they get that by leaking a fake one too and thus not giving up anything.

The comparison was to the prototype and the GT500 not the Fusion to the GT500. The GT350 I said nothing about because that car doesn't look much like the new Mustang.
The prototype and the Fusion have an oval shaped upper, a half oval below the "bumper" and swept headlights. Basically the same formula for the GT500. Shall I post a picture of two 911s that have nothing to do with each other but many people say look the same or an evolution of sorts?
Not everyone sees the same thing but its ignorant to ignore what's right in front of us and the design cues that come with change. Had Ford not reintroduced the tri bar tails in the SN95 who knows where we'd be. That car sold like gold and it had a lot of very tweaked but very Mustang looks to it.

The strategy is called "running it up the flagpole to see if it flies."
Looking at the pictures closely makes me think they quickly popped this thing out of a mold. Quick prototyping.
For those who are familiar with car launches:
When is the supposed launch date for the car? How long before the launch do they have to have the front fascia locked in?
Yes sales have dropped for this car in recent years due to significant competition, and "they have to do something to increase sales."
I suppose you could also say this front end has some looks from prior years, but then I think you'd have to agree that the Mustang "design language," over the past 50 years, has been schizophrenic.
My belief is that the best long-term strategy is to make the Mustang stand out (retro-themed if you like). (Like Porsche has done. Yes, "lower volume higher price...")
Since I think retro-themed is the best long-term strategy, and since bonuses don't get paid in the long-term. I think we'll be looking at the Fusion Coupe styling. Which is sort of cool, just not distinctive.
Since they are going to sell this world wide, I suspect the international sales will be disappointing: foreign buyers want to buy American, and this won't scream Mustang or American.

This. I just bought a new focus titanium and it's a great, highly refined "economical" car. Cars just keep getting better in general. Eagerly awaiting a specialty version of the new stang.

Says Mustang fans and owners EVERY SINGLE time there's a change.
You can count on it as much as the sun rising in the morning and setting in the evening.
People will love it, hate it, and everything in between.
They will lose fans, they will gain fans.
There will be people on the fence and will warm to it, and there will be people who won't.
But I'd rather wait in seeing the whole thing in a nice polished up paintjob before making a decision and not some snap judgement based on seeing less than a quarter of the car.
That'd be the, ya know, sensible part of me.

I think as other you have quoted are missing what a lot of people are saying. Do people like change for the most part no. Can they accept changes some more than others. But the issue presented in this thread is the long anticipated highly guarded secret what the new Mustang will look like and its finally exposed look. Tada .. Fusion front. It is not about how good the car will be I am sure it will be like my 2013 is in the fit and finish and technologies will be right up there.. Even if it ends up looking like a fusion coupe as people put it people will buy it. Will other previous owners of Mustang?? Perhaps some not. If I was going to buy another Pony car to replace my 13 would this car do it is the question I ask myself. I make my judgements on a few things but if was purely on a looks I would possibly opt for the Focus ST even though not a pony car its a little rocket .. And why not if a the Ford line up look the same the ST would probably be a good choice for less $$$$ Well at least it would still be a Ford right.. But that said I am hoping for shenanigans with this front end because I want the Mustang to be 100% different in looks then the other line up. I did not like the Fox-bodies in the 80ies for that reason. They have grown on me in today's time because of what they are. Lets put it this way did anyone see the 13 GT500 nose of the F150.. I love the GT500 and I love the F150 but I do not love the GT500 nose on a F150.. Get the idea here...

the change. I truly believe this car will look better, perform better and be more fun to drive than my 05. The origional was a beautiful car. It was a fun 9 years paying homage to the original with the retro S197 but it is time to move on. No more retro. Long live the Mustang and may the bow tie Camaros and Corvettes go to
It is no surprise that the car will have a front end similar to the Fusion, Fiesta, Focus and other Fords. Ford told us they would share the Kinetic 2.0 look in all of the models. I think most previous owners will like the new car for the look and for the performance of the car. Ford is making huge profits on car sales domestically and internationally. This will be the first true 21st century Mustang and we all should come together and embrace
