Front fascia caught uncovered during testing 8/20
Like I said in the other thread, notice how small it looks! It looks SN95 size. I may need to eat my words on those dimensions claims from last week....
I'm crossing my fingers and calling shenanigans. Otherwise, while not ugly and even attractive, I'm not jumping out of my seat and throwing my money at the screen. It would make a super nice Fusion SHO!
Guys, guys, GUYS. Calm down, breathe, use that part of your brain that isn't going 12038561051 miles an hour.
Putting a false-flag nose on the new Mustang is pointless, if they wanted to keep the new look under cover they'd simply use the current Mustang's front end. It's also far too risky. What if they put a "fake" on and people loved it? How much would that cripple the final product when it was finally unveiled if people had their hearts set on the nose they'd already seen?
The familial resemblance is there, but look at the details. The grille shape, hood shape, headlight shape, lower grille shape, fog housing shape, chin spoiler shape, etc are all very much distinct from the Fusion.

not seeing the differences.
I dunno. Doesnt look new at all to me. To much Fusion in it. I never liked the Ford corporate front ends with the large grill openings anyway. I reserve judgment till the final product is out but not overwhelmed thats for sure.
I'm sitting on the fence so much.....IF (and that's a big IF) this is at all the final front end design then its OK. But, with the exception of missing out on IRS there's nothing I regret about buying mine back in April. It is recognizable as a Mustang but is still a bit derivative (Aston Martin/Fusion, etc) for me. You know, though, I'm waiting to see the whole package w/o the camo panels before I'll fall to one side or the other.

I'm not super impressed yet. I was hoping for a continued departure from the traditional Ford lineup like the S197 has been. It's resembled nothing else in the Ford fleet and I love that. It's purely it's own competition within the manufacturer. I want the lamen car guy to see this and be instantly able to recognize it as a Mustang. Not, maybe a Fusion coupe sport or a poor man's Aston. Too much family resemblance isn't always a good thing.

I really don't get why some people are so hung up on this supposed "Fusion" connection. I still think people have this backwards. The Fusion grill comes from the EVOS, which was a concept that I suspect featurs several design cues from the S550. Time will tell. I've always felt like the so-called "Aston Martin" fascia seen on the Fusion just looks like a stylized Mustang fascia, which obviously makes it quite appropriate on a new Mustang. Fact is, it essentially looks like a sleek, modernized take on the classic Mustang shark mouth fascia.
Frankly, I suspect that a good percentage (majority?) of the people who are gnashing their teeth over this "Fusion" grill would've been just fine with it if they had seen it on the Mustang first. If people are going to be this ridiculous over it, and my suspicions are true, I almost wish Ford had delayed the new Fusion. Then again, you might then have people screaming about how the new Fusion looks like a Mustang.
