Front fascia caught uncovered during testing 8/20
Everyone is busy looking at the front for obvious reasons.
One thing I noticed is that it appears to have seats similar to the current Recaros. Previous spy photos clearly had standard seats with headrests and you can see in a few of the driver's side angle pictures that the car here has Recaro-esque seats. That said, it is also possible they just threw an actual racing seat in there for their performance testing purposes.

LOOK LIKE FOOSION
(there, got that out of my system
)
Im holding judgment until we see it unwrapped...but im excited to see more of what will hopefully become a welcome, familiar face out on the road and tracks.
To those who thing they're going to shave off 400-450lbs from the current Mustang, i think you'll be disappointed. The $60,000 Vette at 3300lbs (with a lighter motor, more budget for exotic materials and 2 seats) mean that this car will be at last a couple hundred heavier.

If I were an engineer at ford and had my way, I'd put a fusion (or other ford or lincoln) hood, grill, bumper, fenders, headlamps, and so on on a mustang mule and run it without anything covered up to play a big joke on all the auto spy photographers and the internet....
That's just something I would do, if I were in the position to do it.

I think the Corvette has a somewhat Ferrari look to it from the profile but I do see the retro in the front end. It has that very early Corvette retro egg crate look grille. I wouldn't say the whole design is retro though.
I have been a very strong proponent of the NO Evos/Fusion front end but I have to say I like what I see so far. Someone mentioned the open or setback grille looking very Cobra'ish and I agree.
Also to whomever said it's exactly the same as the Fusion, I disagree. The shape of the bottom (of the upper) of the grille is different and the entire thing is lower. The headlights don't line up with the Fusion overlay at all in a previous post. And the bottom corners are much more aggressive.
I do agree that it isn't as unique as I would like but yes the Fox bodies had front ends hat were very corporate Ford. I had hoped that they would keep the Mustang more unique but I do like what I see. I'm now more concerned about the rear. That's the part of the Evos design I hate the most. Too short/bulbous looking.
I am curious why this front has been revealed now though? Is it possible Ford is nervous about the reaction to it and wanted to gauge our reaction?
Regarding the weight and 450 hp issue I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the GT will have 450hp. Doesn't The Boss 302 have 444hp? I think 450 is very doable.
On the weight issue I'm gonna say hat the EB-I4 will be 400 lbs less than the current GT and the new GT will be 200lbs less than the current GT. The V6 model will be 200-300 lbs less.
That's my prediction, time will tell.

Forgive me if this has been brought up before. But, if the rumors of the dimension figures are correct, the new 2015 is going to be 10 inches shorter than the SN95? How can this be? My 2007 seems alot bigger than SN95s and in reality it's only 5 inches longer...
My S197---- 188.0 inches long
SN95-------- 183.2 inches
S550--------173.0 inches
?????????

I am completely underwhelmed and disappointed at this. Seriously.
I dreamed it to be something much more, but it truly is a tweaked version of the fusion. It's a little wider and lower but it's 95% the same look and that is extremely disappointing in every single way possible.
Does it look good? Yes.
Does it look as good as it should have? Hell no.
From strike out to grand slam, this is a very safe double. They were way too conservative. I'm pissed.
I was considering a corvette if the Mustang didn't deliver something even more sporty and aggressive and it looks like I have concretely made my decision.

One is also more expensive than the other one.
As a side note I find it funny that so many people judge the whole car from seeing a front bumper/grille.
It's like looking at a chick covered in dirt and only seeing half a boob and her elbow and saying she's ugly as sin.

Mustang isn't a muscle car...try again.
That said, the Fusion front/Mustang front are very similar. No question. Some don't mind it, some want the stang to look more unique and not resemble the front of a sedan. Sure, the Mustang went all "corporate look" for a period in it's history. Then the Mustang became more unique again, IMO, for the better.
Personally, I'd be happier if it didn't resemble the Fusion front end as much as it seems to in the spy pics. But that's just my opinion and hopefully it changes when the finished product comes out. Who knows....

Frankly, I'm betting its evos + guigario = 2015 Mustang
$ 0.02: Personally I don't see enough of the product yet to pass judgment. I believe we're a far cry from what will be revealed to us (possibly at NAIAS). Basically we're looking at a front fascia with unfinished sheet metal that indicates that the coming Mustang will be inspired by the EVOS who was the 'shape of things to come' when we're talking design language or Ford DNA.
Sure you can go ahead and bash it as 'looking like a Fusion' to me though the Fusion is based on the EVOS design language and so is (apparently) the new Mustang. Since they're part of the very same design language there will be cues and a certain resemblance.
Personally I would have liked to see more of a leap - a sleeker and more aggressive design, similar to what we have seen in one of the renderings (below).
Then again, lots of water will flow down <insert random river> before we see the final product.
The same discussions erupt as with every design change. I predict we will get used to the new Stang as well.
PS: As for the faux front conspiracy; if Ford was indeed doing that then there would be no backlash as they could just say: "If you liked it that much, you can buy a Fusion at your local Ford Dealership."
