Front fascia caught uncovered during testing 8/20
Agreed, I hate to even ask this, but is this 450 hp actually been talked about or is this an assumption? As far as I can tell, Ford has only confirmed the 4 Ecoboost?
I have to laugh at the people calling this a Fusion clone just because it has headlights are that are passling the same and a 5 point grill opening like the Fusion or Taurus SHO....SMH
Thats like calling the 86 Mustang a clone of the Taurus or T-Bird of the same era...then again I think they might have used the same exact headlights on the T-bird
If you know your Ford styling from the past 30 years or so, the Mustang up untill 2005 has always shared its look with its siblings or vice versa

I wouldn't call it a clone but you might have to look twice to be sure what it is from looking at the "spy" photos. Unlike when people said the Fusion resembled the Aston, NO mistaking those two!
BD9
So does this effectively end Fords muscle car category?
So far not a fan of it!

Lets not even bring Audi into this fight.
The evolution was either too fast or too slow depending on who you are but people just latched on to an idea and can't get rid of it. If any vehicle is authentic, the Mustang is it. For freaks sake it had a solid rear axle in 2014!!!
Everyone brings up Porsche, Aston. They too are removed from their past and Ford actually revived Aston in a time of need.
I think the Mustang is moving on and this time I might actually get my wife on board, otherwise a V8 BMW is what will end up in my garage. This is a good step forward and the Coyote is way too good of an engine.
So far I like it. Need to see the rest though before making final judgment........and placing an order.
The car still looks very wide though.

I overlay-ed the two car images.. it does not look like the Fusion front end IMO it is the fusion front end.. Could Ford be pulling a fast one putting the Fusion fascia on the Mustang to throw people off.. ???
A few weeks ago, was there not an article in which designers were calling the new design "stunning" as well as "instantly recognizable as a mustang"?I'm sorry, but from these, there is nothing stunning about this, and the only thing instantly recognizable as mustang is the mustang emblem. As was pointed out earlier, its just a fusion coupe.Sure it looks good, as a fusion coupe, but as a mustang, it looks better as a fusion coupe. Its just the same as every other ford out there now, even worse, its just the same as every other coupe out there now, just with the ford front end and some mustang stickers on it. I'm sorry, but taking a generic coupe design, sticking a fusion front end on it and tacking a few mustang cues to it is not the same as taking the mustang and making it more modern. It just has no, absolutely no mustang soul to it, just a fusion wearing a mustang suit. And not very well at that.
If you look at the bottom portion it looks like the bottom of the fusion front end has been cut off and that sharp line we see on both sides is where it has been taped down. and if you look in the grille area in some of the closeups it just doesnt seem to line up very well with the part with "fangs"
My thoughts exactly...... Or maybe its my heart crying out.
