Front fascia caught uncovered during testing 8/20
Right there with you! I traded in my '11 GT for a '14 GT several weeks ago. I'm sure the '15 Mustang will be well received by plenty of people, but plenty of us will prefer our S197 Coyotes, too.
This should do the trick. Pure sex on 4 wheels.

Already make this...and the Ferrari looks much better
Interesting comment... because I think a huge portion of Challenger sales are exactly that... old guys trying to 'go back'. Dodge still has some QC issues, still uses some cheap/inferior plastics, doesn't make the power the competitors make... but these are all accepted as 'the price of admission'.

Bottom line is what gets the masses stirring.. The main idea is to get the new blood interested in the Mustang as well as try to capture the old blood. For me as I have stated elsewhere it was not the Retro look that drew me in the 1st time and then again the second time. It was more wanting what the Mustang was giving then the retro look. I had a 2006 Mustang in Legend Lime as a weekend car after 6 years it only had 45K miles on it before I sold it. I also had a DD that was a 2000 TT Coupe also green. I looked at BMW coupes, Looked at A5 and S5, Looked at more TT's and then the Mustangs competition before I bought my 13. What was my criteria.. Coupe between 30-35K, Manual Transmission, Leather, Heated Seats, Handling, decent gas economy, Room for my son in the back and be able to have an adult back there in a crunch. And to be honest I had a deposit on a certified 135i in black. I was ready to make the deal when a friend asked why I had not looked at the new Mustangs. So I went to the dealer and test drove the V6 Performance Edition and was sold. I order from the factory the same day and got my deposit back from BMW. Moral of the story is even though I have owned multiple Fords (2) of them Mustangs before my 13 now and loved them all I was willing to look elsewhere because of more than retro looks and suspect others will to. But just do not want the Mustang to look like other cars in the Ford line up.
At the end of the day a "Mustang" is whatever Ford decides it needs to be and look like. Don't like it buy something else then. Ford job is to make car that will sell not trying to make old guys live their childhood memories. Trying to please the old crowd and not moving forward is one the major reason Jaguar and Saab got into trouble in the first place (remember how long the old Jaguar XJ stayed with the shape and look). Like the late Jobs used to say "Our core philosophy is to never fear cannibalization. If we don’t do it, someone else will"
The Mustang isn't just a muscle car. It's THE pony car. The camaro can lose its roots in two tons of plastic nonsense and still sell just fine because it was originally an answer to the Mustang. There is only one Mustang, and if Ford decides to retire the car's heritage for the sake of "new-age" design practices, it will no longer be the Mustang everyone identifies with. Maybe that's what Ford wants, but there is a reason the S197 sold so well.
Regarding the pictures...it's just too close to a Fusion to me. Every time I look at it, I see a modified Fusion. It's what I feared would happen with the design, and at least at this point, makes me glad I got the '13. So far, it's a let-down.
Pretty funny how some people are saying it looks nothing like a Fusion. Looking at the side-by-side pics posted, to me, it looks like Ford is teasing us all by putting a Fusion front-end on this test mule.
I am going to wait to see the real thing before passing judgement. I have owned every body-style (and multiples of about all) from the Mustang II on up. Liked something in all of them. I own a Challenger RT now, but I would be surprised if I didn't find my way back in a Mustang again at some point.

I'm kinda curious where that user is that got to "see" the new mustang and did a survey on it or whatever. Would love for that person to chime in on how they exposed front fascia compares to the one they saw.
When should we possibly expect to see a full preview of what it will look like? Any speculations? Detroit auto show?
