If I saw this rolling past me on the street with a mustang badge on it I would probably break my neck! I love the front end, espically the lights... But the car in the third pic would be a bad idea for a mustang!

I get that, I'm completely hot for sexy little Japanese numbers. Though my wife won't let me, "drive" one.

Clean this up and you could have something....
It's been said if you like the Evos, the Audi A5, and SN95/NE, you will like the next Mustang. This definitely has the A5 influence in the greenhouse. You've got scallops in the doors. You've got Evos influence in the headlights. You've got 'hips'...

That looks like it belongs in a Transformers game not reality.

Yeah I'm serious. But I did say "clean this up"... meaning, remove the gawdy bits like the hood scoop, slap a respectable fascia on the front, and I think you could very well be looking at a legitimate contender for the next Mustang.

One can do far worse than resembling perhaps some of the most beautiful and exciting cars in the world today. While perhaps not quite appropriate for the Mustang, hardly something that would make me puke.

As for the demise of the live axle, well -- I hope you're sitting down -- I understang there won't be drum brakes or leaf springs either, not to mention the dark rumors of radial tires!

Mustang = muscle car = European looks and handling do not compute.

Agree and Disagree. The mustang has for most all of it's existence been JUST a muscle car. In it's current iteration Ford is putting real effort in a more rounded performance portfolio. Stopping, turning, being comfortable, providing some little luxuries and etc have all become important parts of being competitive.

The New ZL has raised the bar by being more than just HP on the cheap. Mustang needs be a better car in all ways to continue being in production. I have no problem with evolving looks if keeps continues to have muscular good looks. The new Viper has just a touch of Ferrari while still looking like a Viper.

Mustang started off as a Pony Car with European design influence (Jaguar particularly).

Yea that's great but you're talking about cars that are 80 grand and up. Why the **** would a mustang GT need to compete with cars that cost at least triple the price, that's like asking my high school football team to keep up with the new england patriots. There are better performing/more comfortable mustangs out there, i.e. Rousch, Shelby, Saleen, Steeda, etc if that's what you want. But hey it's not like I'll have a gun to my head to buy one so I'm good. Just not happy with ford potentially ditching part of the mustang that has made it what it is.

Hmm no doubt. I know the 77 Aston Martin V8 Vantage looked really similar but I'm not too familiar with euro cars. It doesn't really surprise me though

When I look at this rendering and a lot of others they all have one thing in common. They all have the S197 Greenhouse! New Edge did not have the same greenhouse nor the fox. Why do all these rendering look like a bad photo shop of a S197? Ford stated it will not be a S197 platform and also will not be retro to any of the older Mustangs. This rendering looks like the Evo's with the S197 greenhouse.

With concept pics like these - I wonder why Ford even has a design team! They can just go to the "Source."
