Thats funny i was just going to post the second car you out. I really like that design, I do prefer the one that was modified with a different hip to body. Would love to see it completed.

Nice, very nice. Probably the best chop based on an S197 yet.

As I'm sure most realise, it's a good 'chop based on this (I do like how it looks smaller, with a better wheel/body ratio)

I like the headlights. The grill isn't bad lose the tri-bar. The scoops are awful. The upper grill frame is pushed forward I like that but the angle of the whole thing should be flatter less tilt. The rear fender hip looks more aggressive sticks out a bit more and has a nice character line continuing from the front fender. They can lose the silly rear fender scoops either make them real or get rid of them. I never liked that mirror time to up date that. And they could leave out the rear quarter windows, save money and saves weight.

Make something that looks nothing like a S197 and it should be like that.

So Pontiac acted alone and against Big Company GM with the GTO and G8? The GTO just did not meet the American Muscle look so it faded away. The G8 was looking like it was going to have a good following as it was being introduced. There were plenty of folks looking forward to the power and RWD sedan combination but it also went away quickly.

Focus groups don't necessarily lead to sales figures. The Probe got so far along in the process that Ford continued it as its own model until it finally faded away as well.

I don't think there is as much room for car guy "gut" decisions in today’s control-every-variable-to-the-Nth degree business MBA dominated atmosphere as there was back in the '60s. Result: fewer truly bad cars but fewer truly great cars though a lot of very good cars.

Shame about the G8 as I thought that to be about the finest generally affordable sedan GM ever produced and a veritable working-man's BMW E39 M5 in GTP trim. However, it was done in by horrible timing (skyrocketing fuel prices, economic collapse) and mediocre advertising. With some luck, the upcoming Chevy SS will recapture or even enhance upon the G8. Shame it's taking so long to bring it back.

The Probe, especially the second gen, was a great car when released -- won lots of "best car" accolades and glowing reviews -- but was left to whither on the vine during Ford's lackadaisical "good enough" era. The Cougar replacement was just insipid.

Ford's good enough era seems to coincide with Nasser's "Fords are for poor people" mentality back when it was all PAG and that parts recycling fiasco.

I see a lot of the Corvette in the lines of this car.....it would make a gorgeous Mustang...but I would still see GM in it...

I don't think the G8 went away because it wasn't selling well. I think it went away because Pontiac went away. Unless I'm mistaken it was sold right up until the end and wasn't a bad seller.

I like the pronounced fenders from the high-up shots, but the rest of that really does leave me cold
