I sent back my old cluster, and they didn't care. I got my core refunded.

Installed my Cluster yesterday. I sent it off to get my cluster to get the odometer set to the correct mileage and then brought it to Ford and got the Keys re-learned. Easy as pie. Im happy with it and i can't believe i have been missing out on this. SIMPLE things lol.

2011 swap

I have been reading both threads on this till my eyes have crossed and I apologize if this is a stupid question but on a 2011 swapping to a 2014 cluster when you put the 2013 strategy for the PCM in do you then have to get a custom tune as well? Or will a stock 2011 5.0 run fine with the 2013 strategy?

Apparently there are physical differences.

The 13/14 have phosphorus coated pistons, and there are no longer oil squirtters. That plus a new engine tune. Things picked up from the Boss 302 program, apparently. I do not really know if a tune is absolutley needed, but Zeroaviation from Redliners performance who helped with this certainly thought so.

Maybe ask Lund, Bama and some of the other tuners their thoughts? I'd be curious. But the lack of oil squirtters would mean that the 13/14 engines would run hotter? May also be a difference in tune between Canadian and US cars?

Also found this:

We are continually working to improve the design and function of our engines. Based on design and evidence gathered through extensive testing performed on the 444hp Boss engine (which does not have piston squirters), we were able to strengthen the piston and improve piston cooling (and therefore durability) through upgraded ring coatings. This removed the need to cool the pistons via piston squirters and allowed us to reduce the burden on the engine's lubrication system which, in turn, improved engine performance and robustness.

Also, Piston oil squirters have no discernible effect on the oil consumption concerns referenced.

If I am reading the first page correctly I cannot make the cruise work on a 11 without flashing the PCM to a 2013 strategy. Now my question is has anyone done this successfully to a 2011 GT? I called bama tuning and they said this isn't a tuning issue. Redliners performance I have been trying to contact for the past week without success. Is there anyone who is tuning these cars specifically for this mod with any success that will know what I need?

dmhines had a 12, and mine is also a 12. We both flashed to 13 strategy, and cruise worked just fine. The 11 should be no different than the 12 for this.

To be honest, zeroaviation was the only tuner that said a proper tune was needed to account for the differences between the 11/12 and 13/14 motors. I e-mailed Lund, and they say that there is no difference.

I did run my car for a week or so on the 13 strategy, but followed zeroaviation's advise and kept the revs down. I have not gone to the s197 forums yet to get their opinion.

So what have you decided to do? Run on a 13/14 strategy or tune your car?

You managed to contact him?

Lund and the some of the guys at s197 seem to think it is no issue.

Are you manual or auto?

MT-82 car. Finally got ahold of him through facebook. Lund said on the service ticket that I shouldn't need a tune. Not sure what to make of the difference in opinions. I can't imagine it would hurt to have it tuned as well though.

I contacted american muscle and spoke to them about what I was trying to accomplish and they said not a tuning issue contact a dealer. On a side note the vcm2 I have is v86 with the v81 calibration files. Will that work for the PCM reflash?

So, has anyone been able to find a source for the short female terminals used on the left steering wheel switch? I have my old dash harness from doing the nav swap but I can't seem to find those pins anywhere in it.

I ordered the pins referenced in post 117 from digikey. Haven't started the install yet but hopefully those are it.

In regards to a tune......

I have an auto and AED told me that there are some settings to be made for the sport shift. I know that would not effect manual cars though. I would say it depends on what else is done to the car. CAI, no cats, etc.

Those pins in that post look a little long for the switch connector. The wires that go in the steering wheel side have 2 different length pins.

Just posted a pic in my album of what I got from digikey. The female pins are shorter.
