Well I thought we were heading today but but some issues have come up and we aren't leaving till tomorrow morning. That will save on one night hotel bill!!

For all the questions on engine oil/blowers etc here's some info I got. First I talked to Roush tech and they said that they run either 5w20 or 5w30 and even 10w30 in there engines and that all their engines that they strictly test as performance run without issues with 5w20 or 5w30. The 5w 20 is basically used for mileage and 5w30 is fine to use but I'm not telling you this if your worried about warranty issues. The heavier weight 30 oil will keep a higher visocity with increased temps but as we all know the temp gauges in our cars really don't show much increase in engine temps with the blowers or enough to worry about . Also here's an email I recieved from Whipple about their blowers and the use of higher weight engine oil:

'The addition of our kit does not require a heaver motor oil as our kit does not have anything to do with the engine oil. Our kit has a self contained oil system.''

Thanks for your interest in Whipple Superchargers,

So Jarrod, you should be just fine with your oil and a blower combo would benefit from a good synthetic but from what I've seen anything over a 30w oil isn't warrantied for these blown engines!!!

5W20= 5 weight or 'winter' weight for cold start up. The 20 is for warm engine viscosity.

5w30= 5 weight or winter weight for cold start up. The 30 is for warm engine viscosity.

Both will have basiccaly the same viscosity at start up(5w) and the 30 will be abit thicker once warm then the 20.

So a 10w30 will be thicker in cold start up then a 5w30. A good example is my Toyota. I run 10w30 in the summer but if I leave that mix in it in the winter when its cold and I start it, it knocks for about 5 seconds since it calls out 5w30 so I run 5w30 in the winter and it works fine(no knocks)thinner start up oil!!!

Make any sense?

And my final (maybe) post of the evening. This came from a shelby site: The answer is at the top and my question was at the bottom.

Hi Chris,

That is a good question. Unfortunately, I do not know. I would suggest to contact a Ford dealer and ask the service dept. They may know your question.

Subject: Website Message: question

Message: Hello,

Basically I was wondering why the GT500 calls out for a heavier weight oil. I've heard it calls out 15w/40 or 15w50. Most factory 4.6L mustangs call out 5/20 and some of that is for mileage but I was wondering why that weight oil in the GT500?

Thanks Chris

Well I have a update to report from tonights T&T.

1. No Jeff. Never heard from him or saw him at the event. Knowing Jeff somthing must have broke durring the install of the blower?

2. I ran a new N/A Best of 13.11 and a new best MPH of 105.7 mph
still trying to get the hang of the drag tires. I feel like there is a 12 second time in the car but I just couldn't get there. Only got to run twice 1st run 13.11 2nd run 13.13 with a poor 2.02 60 foot. Very consistent with the drag tires.

3. Nothing blew up! thank God! I was fearing the worst.

4. Jarrod is fighting the traction issue. I left with him in the staging lanes to attempt one more run. Drag tires are in his future I think.

All in all a good time except waiting like 3 hours to make my second run because some jerk spilt their guts all over the track. It must have been like the exon valdese out there or somthing. It was the worst down time for clean up I have ever experienced at the track.

Well I'm beat. I will see you all in the morning.

Sorry for not making it last night guys. You are right Dave. We got it all done and found out I had a bad intercooler pump from the factory. I am goin back his morning to help him get it switched out with a different one, so needless to say I will be late to Tech Day. We may end up trying the stripes later next week and also with the gauges, it depends on what time I get to Tech Day. See you all soon...wish me luck

With that MPH and a bit lower 60' you are in the 12's!!! To me thats impressive for a car without any 'major' extras and only 4.6L!!!

Thank's. I think the car is definately a 12 second car. Like you said I think the trick is the 60' . I think I am going to buy a line lock, swaybar eliminator/radiator support (for weight savings), CMCV delete plates, upper control arm and relocation brackets. I think with these small items I can get it solid into the 12 second zone.

David I think you are correct!! with the relo brackets, plates, and the front delete you are definitely in the 12's. Thanks for your help today!! Had a speed bump but hopefully no major issues will arise. Had a blast meeting everyone. Yes tires are definitely going to be a must, just cant seem to find traction.

I heard that if you rub cheeto dust all over your tires you will gain a tenth and 2 mph.
