I'm putting my money on it being priced in line with the next Camaro and Challenger. All reports I've read on the latter two so far have their base prices in the mid to upper $30k range because they are just plain expensive to build with an IRS and as of yet unshared platform.

The Bullitt will surely be limited production but I bet Ford sells just as many of them as Chevy and Dodge sell Camaros and Challengers. Also, the Bullitt, with 400 HP, is right in line with the Camaro's and Challenger's rumored output.

These are Austrailian Ford engines

Boss 260 - 5.4L DOHC V8 4V Engine
Max. Power: 349 bhp @ 5250 rpm
Max. Torque: 368 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm

Boss 290 - 5.4L DOHC V8 4V Engine<TABLE style="WIDTH: 100%; TEXT-ALIGN: left" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=lightbg id=car_specsleft>Max. The Boss 290 is hand assembled, balanced and with re-engineered Mustang Cobra R alloy heads.

I have to wonder what magic wand people think Ford US has....

Robert hs a point. Nothing they have posted in the past has been inacurate so why would they start now. With Amy's post on Shelby Auto forum it may hold some weight... Kind of interesting that they say the GT350 will have the Bullitt drivetrain and then Amy posts HP numbers and a statement that the GT 350 will have 400HP.

It's a conspiracy. Put out all of this misinformation so no one know what is really going on... Then they spring the 5.4 on us... Must have hired some former CIA operatives to help out!

Uh... Mach1 between 2005-2008...
Yeah, BON has NEVER been wrong....

Now...THINGS change. Agreed.
Just like that 4.6 WAS going to be in a car...now is not.

I'll believe Fourcam330 before I believe RLane...
His sources are good

Unless plans have changed, there is only going to be a minimal h.p. increase.

From Fourcam, he posted that the 2010 looks like it'll be the BOSS 5.8L in the GT
so then we could guess that the 5.4 4v BOSS SE would be in 2009...

Those are just guesses based on his info
but things do change almost on a daily basis...

I also would like to officially combine the old name of the HURRICANE engine
and BOSS engines...into a unified name we can all use, and not get confused....

HURICANE + BOSS = HOSS motor

I believe it was mid-2005 or so they published a memo from Ford that there were problems with the 4.6L and that a stop ship needed to be issued. They reported that production of Mustangs was going to halt as a result. It turns out that the memo was from before production of '05 Mustangs even began and the only affected products at the time were F150 (and it didn't even stop production of them). Only after Ford proved the memo was old did BON retract the story. To make a long story short, they do have a history of reporting inaccurate information that makes this story smack of the same shoddy reporting.

CORRECTION: It was late '04 after '05 production began when BON ran the article.

Since Ford Australia only managed to pump 388 hp out of the hand built/assembled 5.4L 4V V8 (naturally aspirated) in the FPV GT/GT-P, I'm surprised Ford US can squeeze out 400 hp out of a naturally aspirated 4.6L 4V V8. They would have to run incredibly high compression with very special heads, valves, and camshafts.

Since the President of Shelby has announced that there is going to be a 400hp GT-350, http://forum.shelbyautos.com/index.p...indpost&p=3111

maybe the answer to all this is that the Bullitt is getting the 310hp engine, and the engine discussed in this thread and at stangsunleashed is actually for the GT 350.

In this hypothesis, fourcam would be correct about the bullitt and it would explain the purpose for this 400 hp motor.

Just thinking out loud.

At least you didn't say "Jetta" powers. That would have been insulting.

Yeah, I'm not much for poosyfooting around. And I am sick of all this back and forth on the Bullitt. I wanna buy a Stang...just reveal the Bullitt info already!

I pretty much agree with AFblue, except I think the street Bullitt will get 325 HP.

It is very believable that there will be a 400 HP, 4.6L, N/A engine that shows up in some form of Mustang road race car ( possibly GT-350 ) - not the street version. My comments were that 400 HP from 4.6L @ 7,000 RPM is realistic.

However, I find it less believable that a 400 HP, 4.6, N/A will be available in a street Mustang SE in any appreciable volume.

Which is why Ford should dust off the Terminator engine and give us a 400 HP SE immediately! With the Aviator out of production, Ford has lots of unused 4V head manufacturing capacity which could be used for another Mustang SE.

You do realize that the "Aussie" 5.4 Boss engine is built in Romeo MI. I believe that the Aussie Boss does not use the latest 4V GT heads.

The 5.0 Cammer V8 (basically a stroker 4.6 4V V8) can make 400 hp naturally aspirated.

According to their video interview, the Aussie 5.4L quad-cam V8s are hand-built/assembled in Australia, quote, "in one of the last V8 production facilities" unquote. As far as I know, the Aussie modular V8s being made in Romeo MI were just a rumor/speculation. Please correct me if I am wrong in my assumption, but I do remember the video interview of the Aussie Ford engineers that commented their Boss 290 was similar to the American Mustang "Khabra" (their pronounciation of Cobra) engine, and he specifically said they were hand built in Australia.

Take a look at POST 12 where Amy mentions there is not yet any work being done on a GT350 and this is "not in the foreseeable future".

I think BON might have jumped a bit. It's all quite exciting, not knowing anything
