400hp 4.6L DOHC Aluminum block for Bullitt!
Although 400 HP from 4.6L is a lot, it is believable. That's 87 HP / L, which is now common for N/A engines (Infiniti, BMW, Porsche, Maserati, Aston Martin). The Ford GT heads flow lots of air. The 5.0 Cammer has been around for 3 - 4 years at 400+ HP. I'd imagine that Ford has learned something in that time and can now get 400 HP out of 4.6L.
Another data point, back at the 05 Mustang introduction tour a Ford engineer told me that they had a project to get 400HP in street trim out of the 4.6L - 3V (N/A). He said that it was looking like 380 HP was the most they could do. If 3 years ago they were getting 380 HP out of 3V test engines, 400 with the GT 4V heads doesn't sound like much of a stretch.
One more thing, a long time ago 05stangkc posted that there was a 4 cam engine p/n listed for 2008. I think everyone including him has forgot about this.

To get 400 HP out of a 4.6 is would take 7,000 RPM, which the Mod Motor is capable of.
BTW, VVT does not do anything for peak HP.
Crap... if the Bullitt has a more powerfull engine Ford will surely raise the price on it quite a bit and probably knock off all of the special a,z,d,x, etc pricing. If it gets to expensive that will not be good. I hope they strip off alot of the unnecessary clutter to keep this affordable.

I seriously hope they can pull this off though without raising the price to much, with more powerfull engines on the way from GM and Dodge that will be priced reasonably, we need this motor. (And i desperately want this car.)
I have to agree with V10. If you can make 325 lb/tq at 6500 rpm, that's just over 400 HP. The 4.6 should have at least a 7000 rpm redline. I haven't put any serious math against this, but I think with the right cams and heads a 4.6 should be able to do this.
Remember this engine had intentions, but was canned...
Bigger/better on the way...
....Just not for the Bullitt
Spy photo of a 4.6L Bullitt DOHC engine. Components bear 2008 casting numbers.
It will be available both as NA and SC.
That could simply be the new NA 4.6L DOHC engine that is listed in the 2007 FRPP catalog. Available 1st Q 2007 (http://www.fordracingparts.com/downl...gs/2007-pp.pdf page 49)
It will be available both as NA and SC.

Mymy... Robert Lane is getting mighty testy.
I love people who call out other people .....
About asking for when it's shown... (big deal, I'd rather have a source that knows whats IN the car, rather that when it'll be shown)
Prove us wrong...(yeah, Like I'm willing to give up a source to prove you wrong....)
That guy is annoying
