Some rough luck for me, the GT build thread you don't want to have to make

Go figure the only party between me and enjoying my Ford, is Ford itself. They're getting pretty good at spoiling the fun.

Options are:
steal one
buy a second mustang, share harness between cars
make my own harness to temporarily fire the car
find one on ebay, forums, junkyards etc.

Obviously the last two are the only real options, but what a pita and frustrating situation.
You couldn't reuse the one from the engine you took out?

Sold it along with most of that engine, I had no idea that the part didn't exist or I would have kept it (hell, even started replicating them )

I'll do as 06GT mentioned, I've been reaching out to various parties with no luck so far.

Instead of splicing, does anyone know of where I can find small female receivers I could use to slide on the pins of the plugs on the main harness and the knock sensors themselves? They are roughly .4mm by 1mm IIRC

Radio Shack; alternately I used to have a great "harness end" catalog but it's not on this computer--I'll have to look when I get home.

****, here's a good shot of the harness, but not good enough to read the rest of that tag outside the 14B485 non-existant catalog number.

svopaul says:

Dean over at Rehagen is probably his best shot....short of buying one from Ford.

One wire knock sensors or two? Gotta find out what brand makes the connector. Probably the same sensors as most ford cars and trucks. Might be able to find one in a scrap yard for a truck motor which should be easier to find. Bring the sensor with you when you try and find a harness or connector.

Thanks to the community so far for helping out!

2 wire, they're very similar to the 4.6L mach1/cobra motor knock sensors at least from a summary google search. Even the harness appears similar.

The connectors that connect to the KSs themselves are PN WPT-490 (from 2011 F150 Coyote). I am still looking for the one that connects them to the main harness.

http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,cata...ft_WPT490.html

EDIT: Okay one source said these are on the 2011 F150 but Rock Auto's catalog does not support that claim. Looking for confirmation now.

So here's what I've determined so far:

No data on the indexing of the pins on the back harness connector
KS1 (pass)
Pin1 (closest to connector release)
VT/OG (violet/orange) pin5 on harness connector - pin 7 on ecu - KSL1+
Pin2
WH/BN (white/brown) pin6 on harness connector - pin 6 on ecu - KSL1-

KS2 (driver)
Pin1 (closest to connector release)
BN/BU (brown/burgundy?) pin1 on harness connector - pin 45 on ecu - KSL2+
Pin2
BN/GN (brown/green) pin2 on harness connector - pin 44 on ecu - KSL2-

So I should be able to strip the back of the main harness connector's insulation to get an index on those pins and go from there. they're linear sensors, so I should be able to test them with a multimeter.

Hopefully I just get a harness, but should this require surgery, at least I have an idea of what I'm doing.

Are the wires and pins in the ecu or do you have to wire in from the sensors to the ecu? Is there a breakaway connector that goes to the KS's?

Tousley for the win. These guys are like the CIA of tracking down hard to find parts. After a 30 minute call and jumping number to number, they were able to track down the part. Amazing, $15, and there's 11 of them. I do not have a actual part number to share, but when I get it (a week or two), I'll post up in this thread in case anyone else ends up in this situation. In the interim, I'll jumper the wires with the info I have and some radio shack sourced parts.

NSFW language as I couldn't find another word for how long its been or that it fired up so ferociously after so many months.
