Does anyone think Ford will step it up a bit??
I am a man of my word. I stopped in at the local truck stop to weigh my car.(8 bucks) Mind you that it's a manual and by itself on the scale she weighed in at 3480 lbs. And that's with my bucket, soap, wax, a few towels and a can of armor-all in the trunk, along with a 1/2 tank of gas.. So at 6 foot and 230 lbs. my ride around weight is 3710 lbs. In my opinion, by itself, I think this car is pretty light. I thought it be closer to 3700 alone.

Jason, would the 3,450 lb. curb weight be for an 05-06 GT premium coupe, or for a deluxe coupe w/manual transmission ?

The Z06 uses exotic materials and was designed alongside the C6R. Nissan did a hell of a job removing the negatives of the curb weight. Both the Z06 and GTR are in the same price range. Like I mentioned, on paper the Z06 should smoke the GTR.
The Camaro benefits from two things. A more sophisticated suspension and track testing. GM revised the suspension and brakes after their initial trip to the Ring. The SS ran an 8:20, which was faster than an E46 M3.
Speaking of the M3, the new one handles very well for its added curb weight. BMW did a great job tuning the car’s suspension. Hopefully, Ford will learn a thing or two from the competition and apply it to the refresh.

According to Brian, the Ford sourcebook lists a 2005 GT deluxe coupe with manual trans at 3356 lbs.

Straight from the Ford Sourcebooks...
GT Coupe Manual Trans:
I've weighed my '07 GT at the truck scales on I-5 nearby. They are rated to be accurate +/- 20 lbs. It weighed 3,480 lbs with just a 1/4 tank of gas, so with a full tank (12 more gallons at 7 lbs per gallon), my car topped off with fluids would be about 3,565 lbs. That's about right considering that 3,532 is for a base '07 GT automatic coupe, while mine is well optioned car with 18" wheels, comfort package (heavy dual power seats), shaker 500 stereo, etc.
