Does anyone think Ford will step it up a bit??

Look at the curb weight of the Bullitt and add 50 or so lbs. That should give you a good estimate of what the refreshed Stang weighs.
I do however agree, that until the Mustang gets the 400HP 5.0L 4v in 2011MY. There's no denying the fact, the current 09 Stang, will be outperformed by the Camaro SS.
As for the 2010 Mustang, that all depends on whether or not the current 4.6 3v gets a bump in HP, and then determines by how much it may get !

So why not just wait until Ford provides the official specs, before drawing any conclusions.

IIRC, the upcoming Camaro SS, won't be much smaller than the Challenger. As the 2010 SS, will weigh in at 3930 LBS.
In addition, the SS will weigh only 210 LBS lighter than the Challenger.
But most of all, we already know the Camaro SS, will be far more expensive than the 2010 Mustang. As Bob Lutz has already confirmed, that Camaro will be marketed exclusively as an upscale/premium coupe.
That being said, it does seem to appear as though the Camaro SS, will also face similar problems competing with the 2010 Mustang, due to it's large size as well !

Ford's claimed weight for the current Mustang GT in base, manual tranny trim is 3,450lb. Most insiders are currently claiming that the 2011 Mustang GT will likely gain a little weight overall relative to the existing model despite a weight savings program. This weight gain will be due to the addition of the DOHC engine and six speed manual tranny. Even so, insiders have indicated that we shoudle xpect a minor increase which leads me to believe the weight difference between the Camaro SS and the Mustang GT will still be over 3500lb.
Also worth mentioning, this weight gain doesn't really apply to the 2010 which wont be using the DOHC V8 or the six speed manual that will cause the 2011 models weight to increase. That means that the 2010 couled potentially be even lighter than the current model is, and this applies to the 2010 V6 model as well. And of course, the 2011 V6 model should easily come in lighter than the current model since it will move to either the 3.5L or 3.0L V6 engine which is much lighter than the existing 4.0L.

I wouldn't doubt that the 11' GT manual comes close to 3,600.
The Mustang bumped a bit of weight mid-cycle. If I remember correctly, it was 2007 that this happened and it was due to improvements made to the chassis (stiffening). I know my Mustang is slighly over 3,450 using corner weighting scales. The new Bullitt is 3,531 lbs per the reviews that I've read.

So I can go with 300lb....but I still think were probably talking minimum weight difference here.
Hadn't heard that 3.0L PIP was dead yet, but I wont shed any tears since that means we can expect 3.5L V6 engines or GTDi fours in any slot the revised 3.0L would have held which is a good thing.
I was trying to be an optimist.

Worth remembering, 3,860lb is what GM claims that the Camaro V8 weighs in base trim. Almost no manufacturer builds a car which actually weighs what they claim it does and the Camaro will almost certainly weigh more than that out in the real world when it is run across the scales. This is important because the Mustang weight numbers the Camaro is being compared to are often real world numbers and not the numbers claimed by Ford which would give a more accurate idea of the difference between the two vehicles.

So just how do I go about finding what my car actually weighs, for I can't seem to locate it anywhere on my door tags
My figures came straight off from an invoice. Maybe you can get it off from an OASIS report too? You can request it from your dealer or I can get it too.
