Phil sent me couple pix showing the hood with the hood shocks. Thats their car at the Knotts show. Check out the hood with the hood schocks
When I talked to Phil about the DCF replica hood they are working on,he recommended getting the hood retrofitted w/steel brace first before putting on struts...I am so freakin confused

Is this GP still open or has it been closed? From the looks of Scotts car, the TruFiber hoods look to be of good quality. I PM'd him over at Mustang Forums to get more info. I'm trying to decide between the Cervini's and TruFiber KR style hoods atm...

Also is there a consensus on whether this hood will work with hood struts? One post says they will need to be reinforced and the other says they won't. Their site shows several pics of their hoods using hood struts...

no underside pics yet..

but phil did say its functional like the other '67 ram air hood.

so far..this looks the best. the vents are very close to the edge of the hood much like the KR.

the cervini vents are too far back...

this resembles the DCF hood....

The KR one does not come all the way to the edge

Anyone know how the heat extractor vents at the rear handle water? Do they have some kind of underhood channeling to keep it off the engine? Pics look great!

I'd get in on the group buy if they had the option for the air to dump on top of the motor instead of the factory air box location.....wasn't there a topic about that and emailing Phil to make it an option?

ok. i chatted with Phil. Phil is really cool...

here is what he said:

this is how the hood works
1. air enters the open vents
2. exits at the oem air box area, this is RAM AIR
then...
3. both rear side vents are open
4. heat exits from both side vents, this is HEAT EXTRACTOR
5. There is no direct air flow over the motor. these are just open vents that allow heat to exit out as opposed to stock hood with no openings at all.

thanks all!

I have a question on paint. I would love to get this hood but having just installed the Ford GT500 rear spoiler, I noticed that even with a good body shop, the paint is a tad bit off. The body guy told me that metallic paint lays differently on a fiberglass or plastic piece as opposed to metal. Something about electromagnetic charge during painting or something like that causes the flakes to lay differently. With my spoiler, it isn't that big. With a hood, I'm wondering if the difference in paint might be a bit more noticeable. I do love this hood and will seriously look at getting it at some point after some of you dive on the grenade. I'd be most interested in seeing somebody who has this hood with metallic paint post up some after shots.
