The ladies seem to be much better at having different things ready at the same time. I'm just like Lee, I love to cook but you better stay out of my path because it is all a-holes and elbows with me running in and out between the grill and the stove. Then when it is ready I'm screaming at everyone to hurry up and eat before it gets cold

Ya, that's my dad. Kitchen is also significantly messier than when anyone else cooks. Luckily, that's usually my sister's night to do dishes.

Sounds like some here may need a little help from the local restaurant supply.

that's a pet peeve of mine, a really messy kitchen. I hate watching some of those cooking shows because they get flour and salt and everything everywhere!

My mother seemed to use every pot and pan she owned and when dinner was ready the kitchen looked like a disaster area. I can't handle that and clean as I go. I prefer to have nothing left to wash after dinner than the pots, pans, and utensils used in final food prep.

Reminds me of a brief commentary when Julia Childs died - how during her tv program that at the end she would be talking and wrapping up, meticulously wiping counter tops and stove tops, and then... shake the cloth out on the floor crumbs and all! lol
Course the sweeping and mopping after the show took care of that but the commentator really laughed about that.

Yeah I start any side dishes in advance so I can concentrate on the entree. But that gives me time to wash the pans and cutting board & knives as I go (I'm meticulous on caring for my Henckels). Any bowls or monkey dishes get rinsed and in the dishwasher as I go so after dinner there's just my plate and wipe down counters and stove or clean the grill. Leaves more time for wine.
