And I have a place down the street that can ceramic coat them for cheap.... place powder-coated my cam covers for $80.

I don't know if I want to go thru the trouble again though...... I know when I installed my FRPP shorties that I stripped off several of the factory studs. Plus, I can get a Coast driveshaft delivered to my door for around $440 which may make more sense for me.

You know everything you say make perfect sense to me. But for some reason I have always wanted to put longtubes on this car. But I refuse to pay $1,500 bucks for them. That is why I was looking at Mac headers to go with my Prochamber. I can do them for about $600 but they are not true equal length headers. With the OBX brand you get true equal length headers, 304 SS and what appears to be a pretty well made product for $450.00. I don't even want to do them for the few extra ponies they are worth. I just hope they might finally give me that sound I have been looking for. I guess the really question is it worth the hassle and is the overall sound changed for the good with the longtubes?

I think you guys should just flip a coin over which mod to get. You will probably end up getting both it time any way.
I think most of your sound comes from what ever mufflers you use and not so much from headers.

You know Glenn you probably correct. With Xmas expenses I see I have about $600 bucks I can spend on me. It's for sure the driveshaft would be far easier to install over headers.
Tom,
I'm curious why you would chose a Coast DS over say a Sydershaft. Is it because of price or other reasons.

Only price my friend, and because there is a Coast for sale in the classifieds now. Brand new, never installed. $360 US dollars plus shipping from Canada which by my estimates is about $60 via FedEx Ground. But, likely I'm gonna pass because with my luck it will arrive damaged and since I'm buying it used (technically) I'd probably end up fighting FedEx for damages. I think it might be worth the extra $100 just to buy new from a vendor incase there are problems.

That being said, if I do buy new, I'd probably do the Spyder but I am hesitant about replacing the pinion flange- that's for sure. There are many people running the Coast with the adaptor that are having NO problems at all.

Eitherway I'll probably wait until spring..... it's winter, so that means it's time for another series of exhaust trials LOL like last year. Remember my videos???

Gotcha. What's you plans for the Loudmouths. Just need to hear them on your car so you can finally say you have tried every exhaust available? I would think they would really be raspy sounding. Just a guess

Remember Real Men do their own work .

It was a piece of cake. I brought a 3 piece gear puller set from Harbor Freight for like 10 bucks. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to do it on jack stands with a 30 minute break.

You guys thing to much, do what you want to do, find a good price and buy it, than pray the wife doesn't find out about it.

Actually I think because I have resonators already in line, the SLPs will sound mean and probably LOUD. I don't know.... I'm buying them used for a couple bills so if I don't like them, should be able to sell them for what I'm getting them for.

I do my own work, except for the blower which you know the deal on got on it..... I don't have a problem doing things myself, its just that if you don't get that pinion flange perfect you can do alot of damage. Kinda like Ben when he went to install his pullies last year..... right, Ben?!?!

Darrell,
I have to hand it to you that you found the best price I have seen on Earl's SS brake lines. So I will put your cheapness to the test. Where is the best place to buy a Sydershaft? You seem to have a inside track on the best prices around. Or maybe since you have one of those "UNION JOBS" and spend most of the day on the computer, you can find all the best pricing. Where did you buy yours????

Brought the Sydershaft from the man himself.

Scott,
I've been keeping my eye on the OBX LT's myself for a while now. I'm gonna go ahead & get a set myself. I've just got to sell off some of my excess armor plastic kits first to assist with the funding. With Xmas close,I can't spend that on an unneeded mod on the car. But, I can get rid of stuff in the attic for that purpose & not need to worry about the Xmas funds.
I should be able to order in a 1-1/2 wks. I can supply the tools & labor if you'ld be interested in doing a dual install? I'm going to forgo the delete plates, as I've always thought LT's would be a good upgrade. The warranty issue + price on other offerings has been my main hangup.
One way or another, I'm gonna take the plunge,I wonder how loud it would be with this mid-muffler setup I've currently got installed. May be glad I hung onto those GTA's I've got in the shed.
Let me know your thoughts.
Larry

My friend and I installed the Sydershaft and it was pretty straight forward. Torquing the pinion nut to 139 ft lbs is a nut buster!

If you two old-timers need a hand, let me know. I always wait until the concrete in my garage is at 20 degrees or colder before I do my usual winter exhaust work.

You know Larry, I thought the same thing..... Looks like Steve was logged in earlier today. Yo Steve, get in here and say hello.
