Good question. Probably have to know someone that works in dealership or a friend who's not only a computer geek but a car guy also.

This might be a start in the right direction. I'll have to read through it more, but looks like what we were talking about.

That looks a lot like the ones the techs use.

The YEAR 04? Yes. Mine is 2/28/05. Mine has been reactivated. (used it twice today in fact)

Ford completely changed out the software sometime in April '05. The latest date that has been posted in this thread was 3/30. The earliest that has the new software is 4/27.

Do you know your actual build date? Do you you have the Active Anti-Theft System option?

mustangbaxter,
Unfortunately, I doubt you would be able to reactivate it in your car. I have a friend who had a build date in those first few days of May and he also had the new software. But hey, you never know. The transition may have taken a few days to completely get rid of all the old parts.

Rags,
I didn't see the Active Anti-theft option listed in your sig. The Global Windows feature was a part of that option. If you have it and you go to talk to the techs, don't be surprised if they don't know anything about it or how to reactivate it. Ford was tight lipped about how to fix it.
If they hook up their laptop to your car's computer, here's the sequence of menus they need to go through to get to where they turn it back on:
programing the module/ door locks/ global access/ enable dissable

Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out.

UPDATE:
According to chabbz182 at some point Ford went back to the old programing and the Global Windows feature can be re-activated on '06 & '07's... assuming the car came with the active anti-theft.

They never changed the programming. If they did I have to see that bc we have 3 different years here that all have the same programming with global window feature tucked nicely away that some dealers just dont want you know about.

The software is different but the feature is still there. It would cost them too much to pull out the feature so instead they just turn it off but the secret is its still there and can still be activated only if you dealership knows about it and is willing to do it.

Chabbz, could you post what dealer you had this performed at so maybe other dealers can call them and get the info if they don't already know.

Yes, I would like to talk to this dealership and find their secret.

Here's what my work order says:

AS PER SSM 1855 VEH BUILT AFTER 1-3-05 NOT EQUIPPED WITH THIS FUNCTION AND CANNOT BE REACTIVATED

Living in FL, it would be nice to roll down the windows before getting in.

is there any way to retrofit this to a non-active anti theft? i skipped it on the options list because global windows is the only reason i would get active anti-theft. i miss it from my vw

Some of our cars are from 04. Mine was built in Oct 2004.

Now I can't say which dealership exactly bc then everyone would call the dealership and they would stop doing it if everyone told them how to do it. They aren't suppossed to do it in the first place. The best thing to do is try different dealerships and try to find a nice one that will do it. I will say its in Texas at 3 of the biggest dealerships in tx that have people that can activate the feature.

There's a list of dealers in the first post of this thread as well as the instructions on how the service tech can do it.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=19105

If anyone else has had it done, I'd like to add your dealer to the list to help out others on TMS.

If more dealerships know how to reactivate it, then more dealerships will know how to reactivate it. Your car works, so what do you have to loose? You have three dealerships in your state than can do it, I have three dealerships in my state that can not.
