Next week I'm taking in my car to have the Global Window feature reactivated. We all know how clueless some dealerships are when it comes to cars, (ironic, huh?) So if you've had your global window feature reactivated (active anti-theft option only) list what dealer fixed it, where they are located, phone numbers, names of who helped you, and any other info you might have.

Once we get a few, I'll make a list, and you can take it to your dealer so they can have someone to call when they give you one of those dumb excuses or just say, "uuhhh... huh? "

My Ford dealer is so bad, I have to take it to the local L-M dealer.

UPDATE #1: (4/24/05)
Mine is now activated. A tech at World Ford in Pensacola, FL figured it out after playing with the computer for a few minutes.

UPDATE #2: (5/30/05)
It seems Ford started putting in new software that won't allow the Global Window feature to be reactivated. So far it looks like it was done on cars with build dates somewhere between 3/30 and 4/27.

UPDATE #3: (7/3/05)
Thanks to darth-bob we now have the sequence the tech needs to go through the menu on his laptop to activate (enable) the feature.

PROGRAMING THE MODULE
DOOR LOCKS
GLOBAL ACCESS
ENABLE / DISABLE

When you get the windows activated, does the accessory power delay option shut off as it says in the owners manual or does the radio still play when you turn off the key ?

My understanding is that the only part they deactivated was the "windows up" part, which only works by putting the key in the door lock anyway, and that the "windows down" feature (holding unlock on the key fob) still works.

If that's the case, I doubt you'd miss the "windows up" feature... it's pretty useless.

Mine does not work either way, up or down. So I would really like to know how this is re-activated. I asked the service manager yesterday. Guess what? He didn't know anything about it.
So if anyone knows, please post it, Thanks

I took mine into Waldorf Ford in Waldorf, MD yesterday to get the feature turned on and they did so for me. They also activated the feature where I can roll the windows up/down by putting the key in the door.

My dealer also did not have a clue. They said they would have to call the tech line and would schedule me after they got more info. Having a couple of other dealers they could call would be a great idea. Better yet, can someone who had it done get the dealer to write up a simple explanation on what they had to do? With that in hand, maybe these other dealers would understand.

Mine doesn't work either, but on page 66 of the OM, it says "the accessory delay feature must not be activated in order for this feature to operate."

Okay, next question - what's the accessory delay feature and how do you deactivate it?

Well, page 44 answers part of the question - the accessory delay feature is the thing that lets you turn the key off, but the radio stays on until you open the door. I kinda like that feature and don't want to deactivate it, just so the Global Window feature works. But, even if I DID want to deactivate the accessory delay feature, I don't see in the OM how to do that...

After thinking about it, why is the Global Window feature useful in the first place? So, you can open the windows with the remote. Wow, big deal...

Troy....you hold the unlock button down for several seconds, and then the windows should go down. Mine worked fine from the minute I got the car.....

You would kinda think that being in the car business the dealers would know this stuff. Especially since some of them are raping peops over MSRP. That is the one thing I have been disappointed about with waiting for the new mustang to come out. Everytime Id call a dealer to get info they didnt have a clue. Sad.

"the accessory delay feature must not be activated in order for this feature to operate."
That simply means it won't work during the 10 minutes after you take the key out of the ignition (or you open the door)

Thanks, Dan. I added yours to the original post. BTW. Have you ever noticed your dealer's name is Ford Law spelled backwards?
