Exactly. I guess by all the will to thrive for some new stuff, it's not worth to endanger the 'working' system in our Stangs. If it works (07-08), here you go but if not, just forget about the whole thing.

Seem that people think this Fusion key only works on 07-08.
1. Posts have said that it does not work for 05-06 Mustangs
The pats system uses the same key on 05-08 mustang. Thought that the fact that it works on the 05-06 would be helpful
2. Posts said the Key Fobs were different also.
Key Fobs are the same freq. although the part numbers have changed.

UPDATE UPDATE

I just tried to program a 08 fusion key to a 06 mustang and the key worked but the fob would not. I tried with the Ford IDS and then doing it manualy. The Mustang fob programed to the fusion but the fusion fob would not program to the Mustang. Will try to find out why. So much for the shop manual !

Bottom line is the Fusion Key works on 05-08 mustang

Sorry if posting information does not help!
Well it helps indeed if its true! Thanks. I will get my key very soon and what the heck... I'll try it. If it doesn't work, I'll just cast it away.

Thanks for your info!

No body has yet disputed that the PATs does not work on older S197s. It's the RKE that '05 and '06 people are having problems with. There's a very good possibility that the transmitter key codes are unrecognized by the older receivers. So far nobody with an '05 or '06 has gotten the RKE to work, or those that have gotten it to work aren't posting their results. In either case if you have an '05 or '06 and purchase one of these keys, I suggest that you attempt to program the RKE before you have the key cut. That way if it doesn't work you can resell it to someone with an '07 and up.

Just my $0.02

Yes, you can program the key to work with the PATS, but the RKE will not work. So if you feel like having a huge key with useless buttons and a key fob go right ahead.

Only 07+ can use the RKE feature of the Fusion key.

Once again, the key will work, but you won't be able to program the RKE.

I'll program the key first. If it doesn't work, a 2007 GT500 owner will get it.

But you can't program the key without carving it first... ... only programming the RKE is possible...

Did you bother reading any of the previous posts in the thread? The RKE will only work on 07+ Mustangs.

Yes acascianelli;5542451 I did read the post! Looked like alot of confusion. I read the Shop manual and checked the freq of the fobs. Looked like it should work acording to the information avalible at the time. Today I went out and got a Fusion IKT key from parts and a 2006 Mustang to verify what was up and if you might be able to use IDS to program the fusion IKT to the 05-06 mustang. Sorry to say but not even with IDS could not get the Fusion IKT to program to the SJB. I could program the RKE from the Mustang to program to the Fusion.
Also acascianelli;5542451 if you want to be picky, its not a Fusion RKE. The Fusion key is called a IKT.

HELP...!!! I am getting too confused about the whole thing. You know what... I am definitely positive, I'll use my current keys and sell it straight to the GT500 chap.

Good luck figuring this further out guys...

The Fusion IKT (the fob aka transmitter aka the stuff with buttons that locks/unlocks) will only work on 07-08 Mustangs. I would wait about 1-2 years for the IKT to drop in price. By then, all Fords will have switched to the IKT or the IKTs will be in such abundance that the prices drop. I don't see any value in paying nearly $50 for the IKT at this moment.
