I believe it's because , just like for Steeda's new adaptive tune , you need the computer that is in the 07 up ...

Passive Anti Theft System = PATS, it's the chip in the key that only allows certain programmed keys to start the vehicle.

Remote Keyless Entry = RKE, it's the buttons on the key that unlock/lock the doors, open trunk...etc.

The PATS part of the key will work on any year mustang, the RKE part will NOT work on 05-06 Mustangs, I know because I tried and I have an 06.

PATS is the anti-theft chip in the key that the car has to be programmed for before it'll start using said key. This is the same on many Fords including the 05-08 Stangs.

RKE is the remote portion that unlocks/locks the doors and pops the trunk. From what I've gathered the 05-06's (maybe early 07) have a different CPU(?) that is not compatible with the Fusion Key's remote. The late 07 and 08+ are compatible. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct, so far all 07's have worked as well including job 1 runs.

Just programmed mine. Works great! One note, my key does not work in the trunk lock cylinder. The door cylinder and of course ignition are OK. IMO, not a big deal seeing as I had never USED the key for the trunk until I tried it today.

Newbie Here...

Just purchased balnk FUSION Keyfob from E-bay...
Key cut just fine at local hardware store - Works in the door and truck too...
Key programmed just fine - Car started first time with NEW key

However, NONE of the remote functions work at all - Even installed new battery just to make sure... Have tried 3 times to re-program FUSION Keyfob, but with the same results...

Vehicle is a 2007 Shelby GT (Job 2 Car - Built in Jan 2007)... THANKS!

are you at least able to get it into the program mode for the remotes?

I was under the assumption that the KEY "programming" sequence also included the REMOTE "programming" functions as well... But I just went thru the following steps and everything works just as advertised... THANKS!

How to reprogram your remote entry transmitters
You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of six)
available before beginning this procedure.

Note: Ensure the brake pedal is not
depressed during this sequence.

To reprogram the remote entry
transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.

2. Put the key in the ignition.

3. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON).

Note: The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON) position. The doors will
lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been
activated.

4. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that
this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.

5. Repeat Step 4 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.

6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position after you have
finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters. Note: After
20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The
doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has
been exited.

LOL yeah. I didn't realize there was 2 programming procedures either. I programmed the RKE before I had the key cut. I argued with the guy at ACE saying that it would work without the dealer. Then I get out and the key turns the ignition but the car won't start. After freaking out for a minute, I went through this post again and realized there was a second procedure for programming the PATS.

Maybe the OP should post both programming steps on the first post to make it easier for others.

I had a disagreement with the guy with Lowes. "It'll open the doors but it won't work it didn't on mine.." what model Ford do you have "Oh a Toyota" then cut the key and let me worry about it. LOL

Anyway.

I had a problem with mine too at first. what the instructions are a little ambiguous about is that you do the eight times thing, leaving the thing in pos. 3
<ambiguous part>
push the button on the remote while it's in the ignition and then a button on each of the other remotes
</ ambiguous part>
Then turn the key to pos. 1

At least it worked for me. My car is Job 1 ?? Built July 06

This gives me some hope with my April 05 built Stang. Now we need someone from the 05 built fraction to reconfirm... Common...

My guess is that the Ford IKT keys will drop in price in the next few years as more and more vehicles use this system. I am not sure why the IKT works with 07-up Mustangs unless the RKE module was changed starting in 2007.
