Got it cut at ace for a $1.50

Thumbs up Cutting Key

Just talked to my ford dealer and they said they do not charge to cut a key.
They will cut mine for free as long as I have the blank. Just passing this along.
My build date is 6/2/06

I'm happy this is working for all of you. I know I'm happier with the one key over the key and fob, that fob looked so 90's

My dad's E-250 key fob had a 1998 part # and resembled the key fob on my 2007 GT, so yes I agree that anything new would better suit the S197. However, I noticed other manufacturers already using more updated fobs. The Lincolns are using the IKT while Cadillacs have an integrated LCD screen that resembles the remote pager alarm systems used in the aftermarket. Ford has quite a bit to catch up to the competition.

Just ordered one...and if it works this should be the earliest '07 build date possible...06-05-06. And now the key fob won't be, so it can't hit my knee!

Just "installed" mine. Total cost was $44. Got hooked up at Lowe's. No charge to cut it. Way better than spending $125+ at the dealer.

Can you clarify what you mean by "my two worked as well"? I thought the issue wasn't with programming the key to lock/unlock the car, but rather with it having the right transponder to be sure the key would allow the car to start? I think we're all jumping to the conclusion that the key will start the car if the remote lock/unlock works....does anyone know if that's correct? Has anyone actually gotten these keys cut and working on early build '07s??? That's the answer I'm looking for and I haven't seen it yet. I really hope this works because the current two piece setup is really sad!

The problem was getting the unlock/lock, trunk, and panic functions to work. Programing the key used to start the car has not been an issue.

That eBay vendor just raised his prices, probably because of the sudden demand for Fusion keys.

Had mine cut at the local Ford dealership yesterday for free! Works great!

*Parts guy there told me he sells that exact key (uncut) for $75*

**I bought a pair of keys (cheaper) and still have the other one uncut if anyone is interested. SOLD

It looks like Yocum Ford also wants $100+ for the keys. It seems that the sudden demand for Ford 4-button IKT is raising the price everywhere. Remember when the PATS key first debuted for Ford? They wanted a pretty penny back then but they're a dime a dozen now.

my dealer wanted 75 dollars just for a key. i got two made for 25 each from my friend Jeff. as for my two working, i meant my remote functions. The PATs has not been an issue. hopefully i can get them cut soon so i can use them starting next week. i got my two for 85 shipped from ebay. better than 75 for just a key. i think most dealers are down to 25 bucks for a cut key now.
