OK, so as I understand it all functions work, except automatic start if you drive a manual.....correct?? Anything else additional ??(auto unlock of doors upon approach for example)

My 07 was built day 1 (6/05/06)...hope it will work!

I'm one of the others that built one. Mine is about 13 months old/ 9K miles or so and works just fine. See my build notes on the last post of Dap's thread.

However, the case is not built to take the torque of turning the key so one upper corner kept popping free. One day last month the case completely separated and the chip fell out! Of course the car wouldn't start. So I decided some preventive maintenance was in order. A small chunk of double-sided tape retains the chip now and a drop of Super Glue on all four sides of the case cured that problem for good. It will likely take a little Xacto knife action to reopen it when it needs a new battery but I'll deal with that then.

As I'm writing this, I'm wondering if we couldn't use the Fusion key for 05-06 cars simply by swapping out the chip? Sounds like another possible project, hmmm . . . . !

Where is the best place to get the key cut? Aco, Ace, Lowes, Home Depot, the dealership? I want minimal fuss in having to find the right type of key cutting facility.

I had mine cut at Menards, Home depot wouldn't do it becasue it was a programable key. I'm sure Ace would cut it also.

I heard awhile ago that the dealer can cut your key based on the VIN #.

Don't know about the dealer, I just figured they would be expensive. My $1.57 cut job works fine, the cutting systems they have now are pretty much idiot proof, I just made sure I went to a place that cut a lot of keys.

I just called the dealership (for sh*ts and kicks) and they wanted $125. According to them, the Rotunda part # is 164-R7003 but eBay shows 164-R7000 and 164-R7013 as being the same as well.

The Ford trademotion catalogs show the transmitter for 06-07 Fusion and 07 MKZ is retailing for $45 but I am unsure what the part # is for that particular part and whether or not it is the IKT. The standard 4-button fob that we all have is only $30 from most online Ford parts dealers.
