Regarding price, the guy I bought from (see Starfire post # 13) is still selling for 29.95 (and if U scroll down 28.45) plus 15.00 shipping....seems like a lot for shipping, especially considering we are both in So Cal, probably a "handling" charge is included...bottom line 45.00 or less.

It looks like the prices are all higher, no more $28-$29 keys, but he is now selling one for 2008 Mustangs:

I have been watching this thread to see if it will work on an 07 and since it appears it will I decided to buy one. I was looking through that remotehub's ebay store and noticed that fusion key auction is cheaper than the Mustang key auction. Then I found the mercury milan was cheaper yet. I decided to buy one of those, at 28.45 with 12.97 for shipping, as apposed to 37.95 and 14.95. I had a 10% coupon from ebay too, so my total bill was for 37.28. I called my ford mechanic buddy just to make sure it will work, he said it should be the exact same key except for the emblem, so if you don't mind that, its a good way to get them cheaper. The auction says 3 more are available. I'll let you know how it works when it arrives.

For those who are not familiar with how ebay and paypal charge fees, here is a little info for ya...

Most sellers will overcharge for shipping and call it shipping and handling. Some are fair about it, others are not.

Keep in mind that...

- ebay charges a fee to list the item
- ebay charges a final value fee when the item is sold
- paypal charges a fee to accept the payment.

Sellers will mix those fees into the shipping charge which is I feel is fair, BUT many inflate the shipping charge to make extra profit on an item, and deflate the price of the item. This is because ebay does not charge a final value fee on shipping charges. They avoid paying an ebay fee on the selling price that way.

A $29.95 starting price will cost $1.00 to list, and a $2.36 final value free from ebay. Paypal will charge .029% of the total tranasction plus 30 cents, so paypal gets $1.60 in fees. Shipping on a key in a yellow padded envelope should be about $1.65 with delivery confirmation electronically printed. The cost of the envelope maybe 50 cents. That totals to $7.11. $8 or $9 for shipping and handling would be fair, $15 is not.

As Blitz said, the bottom line is $45, and that is what you need to look for. Someone else may be selling for $40 plus $5 shipping, that is still the same bottom line. Some people will see the $29.95 and buy from that seller instead because they think the deal is better, but it is not.

Is it possible to change out the processor( the computer that controls the keyless access) on earlier cars so us older car fella's can get this fusion key to work?

Ford cut mine for free too! They were very surprised how much I paid for the key on eBay.

Not sure how well that will go since several new functions were migrated to the '07 and up processors.

The '07 and up now have the tire pressure monitoring, and there is no turn signal solenoid, turn signals are controlled by the PCM.

Got mine today. Programmed it, haven't cut it yet.

*Edit* Got the key cut at Ace (no charge). Guy didn't want to cut it because he said it wouldn't work. I advise him I knew what to do. Works perfectly! Now I won't confuse my 3 Ford keys!

Thumbs up Dealer was going to charge $20 to cut

I called my dealer and they told me they charge $20 to cut the key!!! Rip off!!!!
I just went to Home depot and since there wasn't anyone there to help me I just cut it myself. Where I work we use the Access key cutting machine so I just found the cartridge which is "A" and popped it into the machine, put the keys in and hit the start button. Then I was gone in 60 seconds.... Well that is about how long it took to cut it. Nobody even came up to me and asked if I needed help. I just cut and left....

I programmed it when I got home and it works great, no problems at all.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread! Great info, THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I did. Nobody even came up to me. I was pissed that I didn't get any help but then again I really didn't need any as I knew what to do.

I even asked a group of 3 people where the key machine was (they were standing there talking) and they just pointed to the direction of the machine. Nobody even offered to get me any help.
