ABC NEWS INVESTIGATION: 2011 & 2012 MUSTANG

ATTENTION:

I just got off the phone with the investigative team at ABC News. They are, indeed, moving ahead with a story for 20/20 around the transmission issues so many of us are dealing with. They asked that I forward them a list of owners experiencing issues with their cars. They are interested in speaking to current owners of 2011 and 2012 Ford Mustang V6, GT, and BOSS 302 vehicles with manual transmissions who have:

1. been to their dealers and have not had their issues resolved... and/or

2. Have been in a situation where they were unable to engage a gear due to the issue... and/or

3. Have had repairs made that did not solve the issue... and/or

4. Have been denied replacement vehicles or refunds after multiple failed repairs... and/or

5. Who believe their car's current condition poses a safety concern

I need to get this list to them by end of day today if possible. They are looking to speak to you briefly on the phone to hear your story. It would be great if we can get a representative sampling from all areas of the US and Canada.

If you're comfortable participating in this, please PM me your name and contact info ASAP. The sooner this is brought to light, the sooner ALL of our cars will be fixed correctly.

If you prefer, you can contact ABC Investigator Gerry Wagschal directly at: Gerry.Wagschal@abc.com and schedule a phone interview

Thanks everyone

John

Finally, some light on this.

We all know that majority of 5.0 owners are not having issues, but a small percentage of us are. This is outrages, that no fix is offered when we paid 40k for these cars. The reliability of these transmissions is non-existent in our cases, and downright dangerous.

Hey, we agreed on something. It's a miracle. Your car should be there soon right? Have fun with it, but don't screw up the trans, cause Ford will ignore you and never fix it EVER!

I'm going to contact this guy and let him know the problem is being drastically blown out of proportion.

I'm sorry your car is having problems, but mine and plenty others are just fine. All you will do is hurt Ford's rep and the resale value of our cars

So burn us because you're being selfish? Yeah no. There's a good number of documented cases with manual transmission problems on these vehicles. My dealership alone has done 30 fluid swaps since February 2011. 30! That's one dealership, that has at least 10 others within 20 mile radius. You do the math.

I'm really glad that your transmission is working, but I expect mine to work that I paid 40k for. They already tried to fix it 3 times without success. So yeah, I want ABC involved since I WANT FORD TO FIX IT.

I really don't understand some of your arguments besides egoistic beliefs.

That's fine. You're presenting your experience with your car. I'm presenting my experience with my car. What's wrong with that?

ABC will blow it out of proportion just as it did when it went after Toyota, all to put its stamp of approval on the government own automakers.

I have had no issues. I assume it's a rather small percentage who are. But, that small percentage deserves quick professional resolution to their problems. There can be no excuse for new 40k cars to remain broken.

How does this thread include your car? He simply stated that people HAVING ISSUES should contact him.

We know that 95% of these cars don't have issues. I'm pulling the 95% out of my *** but you get the point. There's a decent number of us that need Ford's help on this and they're not stepping up. If it was such a small issue, no publication would pursue it.

Toyota didn't lose value, they never do. They came out and fixed the problem. Ford should do the same. No harm done, except to the owners that paid so much money to drive broken transmissions.

Exactly, that's what I would hate to see happen

Simple, because my car is a 2011 Mustang. If this investigation is to be legit, which we know it most likely won't be, they need to hear from all sides. Not just the people having problem

Toyota's rep took a HUGE hit from the recalls and so forth

Post a poll and narrow the choices to a simple yes or no. There are enough TMS members with the same transmission to reach a reasonable conclusion as to what percentage is having issues.

It will be good if they investigate but not so good if they sensationalize. A look at the number and severity of issues and Ford's responses would be informative. We've had this "it's a POS" / "most are fine" debate for a while. Let's see what an impartial observer has to say.

I don't think it's the same thing as Toyota, Toyota had a problem with a very huge batch of cars not limited to lower production car like the stang. Like 1000000's of cars to what 80000?

If they decide to do a report, they will not attack the 5.0 vehicles but rather the corporate response (or lack of) to the owners. I don't see why you guys are getting bent out of shape on this. There's no need to do a poll since there's no statistical analysis that will fully address the whole sample size. If you want poll's, go to allfordmustangs.com where 2 polls are up for everyone and 40% of people in the poll's are having issues with the tranny. What else do you need?

I'd be game for that. Somebody would have to be careful on how they worded it, but it could be useful

Agreed x1000

And I fear it will be sensationalized. Especially if its on 20/20

The problem with a forum poll is the hundreds if not thousands of owners out enjoying their vehicles, and not sitting on the internet posting "everything is great!"

The results of a forum poll with always be flawed for that very reason.
