Anybody ever look at gofundme.com and search your area? My GOD the amount of shameless begging people are doing these days is staggering. And not worthwhile stuff like they need money to bury their grand ma, they're begging for money so they can go on a cruise, or buy a diamond ring, or buy a car because they totaled theirs and didn't have insurance.

When Daniel Boone's log cabin burned down, he picked up his axe and went out to chop down enough trees to build another one. The idea of going around to his neighbors to wheedle some cash for sawmill logs would never have crossed his mind. That's America in the 21st century; the welfare mentality is spreading like a bad case of the clap. I sure hope I don't catch either one.

Maybe the gofunding.com site should rename to gimmee.com or shamelessslackers.com

Scott needs a GT350 fund sounds reasonable.

Had an attack of conscience today over a $1.75. Went to the dollar store to pick up some candy to have around the house and grabbed a bag of pork skins too. Had to stand in line for a bit and when he started ringing my stuff up a couple of the candy packs were hard to scan then he had to scan the pork skins 3 or 4 times before it beeped.

Told me the total and I swiped my card.

Grabbed my stuff and got in the car. As I cranked it up I thought to myself that the stuff should have been more than that. Backed out, started out of the parking lot and something told me to look at the receipt. Sure enough, the pork skins weren't on there. I was in a hurry and was about to pull out on the road, but my mind just wouldn't let me.

Backed up, parked and went back in with my receipt and a bag. Got in line and when I told him he didn't charge me for them he seemed shocked that I came back and started looking at the receipt. We both agreed that we heard it beep and I told him I didn't want to take something without paying for it even it was just a $1.75. Gave him 2 bucks and left.

All the way home I just kept thinking how I almost pulled out and went on because I was in a hurry and they were really busy in there. But I also thought that if I had left with those after looking at that receipt and knowing that he didn't charge me, it wouldn't have been any different than if I had just gone in and stole them.

Weird how the mind works.

You are good people Lee.
A rarity truly, in the 6 years i did retail, this probably happened less then 5 times. Usually people yelled and screamed saying they should get stuff for free.

Has happened to us several times. Usually with a case of water on the bottom of the cart. I once went back into target for a 49 cent flag that had gotten stuck in the cart.

It just really bothered me for some reason, and I after I saw that is wasn't on the receipt I couldn't leave without paying for it.

It might not have been totally selfless. I think I'm subconsciously trying to build up some good karma before I die to offset all the bad **** I've done.

For a long time when we'd get home from Kroger I'd notice they had put a bright orange or green sticker on drinks, cases of water, and other big items that said "Have You Seen BOB?"

I kept thinking "who the **** is Bob?" So one day I asked the lady when I saw her put the sticker on. It stands for Bottom of Buggy to remind the cashiers and bag boys to check down there when you go through the line.

Before I leave the store I always look at my receipt to make sure that everything is there and they also accidentally didn't scan something twice.
I have had to go back in as well if something wasn't rung up. It would drive me crazy knowing I took something that wasn't mine to take.

I was at Sam's last week and did the self check out. Got to the door and the lady counted the items and made her mark and said I was good to go. I look down at the BOB and notice I didn't scan something. So I said I didn't pay for it and asked if I could just leave it there at the front as I didn't want to go back through and wait.

She said most people would never have mentioned it. I felt bad for leaving it there but I wasn't gonna take it without paying for it even though she said I was good.

My daughter, 8, was with me and asked me when we got outside why I put it back. I said because we didn't pay for it. Hopefully she learns that lesson. So I did two things. Walked out with a clear conscience and made and example.

I honestly never thought twice about keeping it.

Well I'm not handing out kudos to anyone because that's just what WE are all supposed to do?!? Plus my dad up in heaven would smack me down if I ever did differently! It's all how your brought up I guess? Our businesses around here keep all their stuff outside and not locked down. :-)

This post won the internet yesterday in my opinion. I laughed a bit too much at it.
