You can build one if you've got some time. Search 80% lowers. No numbers, batf legal for personal ownership. Although they are pretty awesome machines, I still prefer hunting rifles. Old school fancy walnut & blue.

I was going to go the 80% route, but California will find a way to pass legislation to ban them. The LEO are already being told to look out for them, because they've been used in an increasing number of crimes in the major metro areas - the problem is them ending up in felons hands.

My dad has a lever action 30-30. I'm pretty sure it's a Springfield, but I don't remember. I love it. Hope he passes it down to me one day!

My dad has a lever action Winchester 30-30 too

That was the most recent fun he hunted with.

I've just got one hunting rifle, one shotgun, one AK, one revolver, and a few semiauto handguns

Of course it's a bird shotgun. The barrel is so long I think I'd poke a hole in the wall trying to use it for self defense at home. 1100 automatic.

I'm amazed that loophole hasn't been closed yet. Do it quick while you can. I'm sure hobama, moonbeam brown, or some leftanista is going to use martial law for house to house search someday... let them take the one with a S/N NICS (that supposedly doesn't keep for any registry whatsoever).

If I built a gun it would blow my face off the first time I used it.

Since a kid I wanted a 94. Till I read they eject straight back into your face unless you tilt it. True?
As a kid, all about levers. Cowboy you know? I went with Savage 99 fastest lever, angled/side eject, ok for scope. Marlins were total side eject. So is Henry.
But 94 remains the classic.
Get one quick... last year's Winchesters were the last American made. They shifted from commie Connecticut to South Carolina the last few years, but I think 2013 was last USA for 94 & 70 bolt. Winchester shotguns are now Turkey. Like I'm going to support the old Ottoman Empire trying to regain prominence through the ISIS Caliphate. Duh!

I bought 87 octane today in Cookeville, TN, for $2.499. Back home in Boob City, they always jack up the price of gas right before holidays, so that made my day!

I'm still posting aren't I? Hook up with a gunsmith that offers classes. Besides, the business part (barrel, bolt, chamber, gas port) is in the upper (no numbers) which you typically buy. But the batf says the business part is in the lower that everything attaches to and holds the magazine. The 80% blanks are mis-spec so you just drill/mill out the trigger/hammer area following a jig.
.

Like I said, can't believe that loophole is semi-truck wide open.
Regardless what they do or don't do, criminals don't read or care about rules and laws so it is ALWAYS going to be a mute point. You don't think citizens in Britain and Australia, and Arab dictatorships aren't armed?? hahaha

Don't some counties in the east only allow shotgun slugs (for deer hunting) now?
