BFF should start her clinical trial in a few weeks. She is busy having what seems like all of her blood taken so that it can be sent to be cleaned, etc., then 3 rounds of chemo, followed by 10 days in the hospital having it put back. I absolutely hate that she has to go through this But she has a new grandson and now her daughter is getting married in November, so she has a lot to live for!!
Hello. My name is Mike and I'm fairly new to this forum and this thread. It really caught my attention reading about those fighting cancer. I too am fighting cancer. My first cancer was thyroid cancer with a complete removal in 2001. Then back in 2019 was diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer in my lungs. So my thoughts and prayers go out to you all that are fighting this horrible disease and too the ones who have past from it.

Took a field trip to Arlington National on Monday to lay flowers for the father in law (retired Air Force Master Sergeant) for his birthday. As many times as we've been there, I've never stopped to watch the changing of the guard from the top. Thankfully, we have a family pass that allows us to drive through (the grounds are huge!) so we usually just catch it from the bottom on a drive-by, but you can't really get a good view of it all.
Fall through spring the guard change is every hour, but spring through fall it is every half hour. I made sure this time we could park and take the time to walk up top to watch. We were lucky enough to catch a wreath laying ceremony for some Vietnam and Korean War veterans making the trip out of Colorado for their honor flight. They said this is the first year they haven't had any WWII veterans. But it was something to see. If any of you ever find yourself in DC, definitely make it a stop!

Talk about moving… we met survivors doing a signing at Pearl Harbor when we went in 2010. That was amazing! I can’t even put into words how moving Pearl Harbor is.

I've been to Arlington, it's a place everyone should visit if they can at some point. My old neighbor who passed about 5 years ago was a WWII Navy Vet...I loved to talk with him, definitely the greatest generation!
