I like carpet. You do have to get the right kind to keep it clean, but the second you get some dirt on hardwood it ends up on the bottom of socks/bare feet.

If you want a clean floor, you need to get a tile, wood, or other because carpet is a filthy floor and it will always will be.

I actually must have missed your post before, lol.
I hate carpet. I worked in a carpet mill when I was young, I made carpet and cut it into rolls for shipping 365 days a year. Carpet sucks. I honestly think carpet is a horrible thing. It is a horrible piece of crap, It is a horrible piece of flooring that holds dirt and filth in it. You can not vacuum the dirt out of it, a vacuum may make it look good, but it is not clean.
If you want a clean floor, you need to get a tile, wood, or other because carpet is a filthy floor and it will always will be.

I don't even eat the pecan pie, I only make it because my husband likes it. I like apple and chocolate. And my kids love this chocolate ribbon pie I make. No baking involved, so you may be able to handle it!
