Shaker 500 just isn't cutting it. Ordered the PAC adapter to hook up my amps and some speaker harnesses. I think I'll try to put the 6x8 infinity components from my '02 in the explorer and take the 6x8 infinity coaxials from the explorer and put them in my '14. Eventually I'll put some 6.5 components in the doors, but they're out of my budget right now. And I really don't want to drill any holes in my interior for the tweeters unless I can find some spare panels which is also not in my budget right now.

Gotta find a way to mount the tweeters in my explorer though.

The best I've come up with is setting it to 'rear seat' mode. Still a bit muddy or boomy depending on the music. Have to change treble and bass for different songs. But it seems to help to bias it more to the rear. Back in the day great 6x9 rear's with a trunk and smaller up front were really good.

I have it set all the way to the front. The rear speakers suck. The door sub's rattle like heck with bass heavy songs even all the way down. And they lack depth. The front speakers don't sound terrible but there's no definition. The infinity's I had in my '02 sounded perfect to me.

I realize the rear speakers are not quality but they have the advantage of the trunk space. And I agree putting the subs in the door doesn't work - there's not enough space in the doors for the sound to work to get depth.
The rear seat mode is not 100% rear - it just shifts the center point rearward. Compare it to using the F/R all the way to Rear and you'll see what I mean.

There is no rear seat mode with mine.

On my 500 as you scroll from Bass down you reach the 'Occupancy' mode. Could do it manually I guess. To me it just makes the sound fuller with less front boominess. Still far from superb.

BASS: Press MENU to access the bass setting. Use / to adjust.

TREB (Treble): Press MENU to reach the treble setting. Use / to

Only options are driver's seat and all seats. Selecting drivers seat makes it sound more muddy and almost makes me dizzy. Sounds really strange.

Yeah it is crap, however, I have mine fade almost all to the front, with 3 clicks to the right. The image is almost dead center now, but I don't play it that loud because it doesn't sound that good lol. Don't take the stuff out of the Explorer - get a decent set of 5x7s off Amazon and some sound deadener and start there. Use the stock amps for now.

I've already got decent 5x7/6x8s in the explorer now. I'd rather put the components in there anyways and put those in the mustang. I've also got some older ones in the back of the notch that aren't being used or are really needed anyways.

Your brand new car is worth brand new speakers. Don't give it hand-me-downs...

I'll be getting some 6.5 components eventually. And the ones from my explorer are only from last november.

I'm of the opinion that the fewer times you remove the door panel the better

So get what you want now and forgetaboutit

I'm used to it. I did my old one so many times it wasn't funny.

Plus with that perspective I'd want to replace the door subs, I'd need a 4ch amp, etc. Not in my budget right now.

Good luck with these cars they are a huge pita

The door wiring runs through a harness at the hinge

Huge pita

And there's few woofers that will fit the door sub enclosure. I had to modify my doors panel on the backside to accommodate the new woofer. I wouldn't do it again.

I've already done a ton of research. I know it's a ton of work, but it's worth it to me.

As if any more proof was needed that we are doomed as a society and a country.

The fact that he does it just proves that men are now total pussies and have lost all self respect.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I sit down to pee in my own home, especially because a woman ordered me too.

This. After the body shop fixed the key job a few years ago, I'd always get a bit of puddling water after washing when I'd open the passenger door to dry the jambs.
So when I fixed the loose exterior door handle they didn't do properly , I found where the seal around the inner liner was not 'stuck' to the sealer like it should. Esp by the mirror.
I didn't want to use silicone because it looked more like a caulk. So that's what I used - and taped a few sections in place so it would hopefully hold the seal while the caulk set.
So far so good.
