You should check into that two button nightstick I posted before. Definitely not as bright as Lee's but it has an area light on the side that works great. I've clipped it on my shirt pocket and was able to work in front of me without a problem. And it's cheap and only takes 3AA's.
Good idea on the zips!

I checked that one out and may get one just for backup to my horse feeding light. Does the 'AL' model cost more?

But I still want to light the barn up 100yds out.

There seems to be a recent rash of driveline vibration posts this summer. One stated a weld on the driveshaft was off. Is this a sudden defect/QC problem that's showing up?

Lol. If you don't write your name on things 100 times around here, they just disappear. Sometimes that doesn't even work. Lol

Haven't had much time. I leave for.Maryland on Monday so I'm trying to get it half way decent for the trip.

Dealer is aware and taking it in when I get back. Told them I put new tires on and still had a shake. They will check other options but can't until.i get back.

Was just told that the front tires were balanced to within .25 ounce which is the limit. The lead tech got it down to .02 now. Working on the rears now.

Before the dealer starts poking around i want to be sure the tires are not the problem.

With it being aluminum, do you think something like a key ring would work in the hole in the tail cap (and then I could tie my neck twine through that)? Or do you think that could eventually break away. Or maybe a loop of fencing tie wire (prob 22ga)?

I also notice a groove near the knurled end by the cap.

Do you think a piece of coated wire (like 14 or 16ga) could be tightly wound there, that I could make another twist that would hold the twine around my neck?
Or maybe a hose clamp somehow?

This is always the problem with so many flashlights - incl with Mags. Even the holsters have it backwards because they have the bulb pointing up - instead of making a way they point to the ground so you could have some light where you're walking and be hands free. Designers are dunces. Seems like growing up all flashlights had a ring in the end cap.

Hadn't thought of that, but yes, a small key ring would work. I doubt it would break away and it would take a LONG time to ever wear through, its really heavy aluminum right there. Its a little over an 1/8" thick. The hole is in the side of the tail cap where the button is.

You can see the hole here....

.

And its 300 feet from where I'm standing down to the bamboo patch (dark green in the center of the pic) and it lights it up like daylight, and the entire area from one side of the frame to the other.

Got a full charge on the batteries now. Gonna try it out some more tonight if it quits raining. Its so damned bright you can see all the little particles and moisture hanging in the air for a ways from where the beam comes out and starts to spill out to the sides.

Man that thing is awesome! It is really well constructed. I think a zip would work great in the end cap.
And the beam looks just what I'm after.

I see by that bamboo patch that you like really big bush.

It is extremely well built for the price point and the power of it. Feels very solid and hefty in your hand. I don't think a zip would be good, a small key ring would be perfect I think. The hole is too small for a zip that would be sturdy enough. I just checked it and a 1/8th drill bit won't fit in that hole but its close. Its probably 7/64ths.

I ordered it from this one because it was fulfilled by Amazon and shipping was free. Got it quick and no complaints.

Amazon.com: JETBeam XM-L LED 830 Lumen Flashlight, Black: Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: JETBeam XM-L LED 830 Lumen Flashlight, Black: Sports & Outdoors

(Actually that link takes you to another seller, mine came from Performance Outdoor Gear)

I ordered two of these batteries (takes 2)

http://www.batteryjunction.com/tener...0pcb-card.html

And this charger..

http://www.batteryjunction.com/tener...0pcb-card.html

on the recommendation of the guy that recommended the light. He said they're a good middle of the road battery. I think he said AW and Panasonic were about the best 18650 batteries, but said they didn't fit well in his Jetbeam. These batteries have a protection circuit and apparently the ones on some of them make the cell longer than others. The ones I bought fit perfectly in mine. Great service from that place too. I ordered them late Friday night and opted for the USPS first class shipping, it was only about 30 cents more than standard shipping. Apparently they're closed on weekends. They shipped first thing Monday morning from either CT or MA, tracking showed they were sent on 2 day shipping and my mailman put them in my box Wed. morning. Shipping was a little over $5 on 2 batteries, charger, and a free keychain flash light. Can't complain about that.

And forget about using disposable CR123 batteries (takes 4 of those) unless you're in a pinch. You'd go broke using them. Good ones are outrageous (Energizer).

My SteriPEN water purifier for hiking uses them, I order them from Amazon and even then they're like $10 for 6. Walmart doesn't even carry them in store, only place around that has them in store is Walgreens and they're $9 for one or $14 for 2!!

So yeah, rechargeable is the only way to go with on this light. If I had to go to Walgreens and by disposables it would take $25 worth of batteries and they would only last about 1 1/2 hours on high beam.

Thanks everybody!!

I'm not sure Dennis, I will have to look it up. I'm a couple hours drive from there so the weather isn't always the same. From what I heard, it rained at home all of last week bit we didn't have bad weather at the beach at all.

Here you go...doesn't look bad at all
