After a super wet spring, our summer has been pretty dry. It's been great.

I ran an Optima in my Tahoe for at least 6 years without a hiccup ever. The one in the Cobra has been great for two years so far and it primarily just sits in the garage. My latest work truck will get one when it needs a new battery also. It's a better technology and better built battery IMO.

DO IT! Don't listen to this guy. vvv
You deserve a beating for even mentioning a Duralast battery here. I've heard that the optima is not as good as it once was but that just doesn't make any sense. The only Optima failures I've heard of were from people that had parasitic draws on their system which has nothing to do with faulty batteries.

Besides, what would a Mexican battery know about sub zero mountains?
A Man Just Needs Some....
They're now made in Mexico crap, and won't last more than a couple years. The shop I used to work at stopped carrying them after their quality went down and they kept coming back for warranty claims. My red top was no better or worse than the Costco battery that replaced it, except the Optima wouldn't start the car after sitting for a week. There's only 3 companies that make the batteries anyways, with various other companies that slap their label on. Duralast, Interstate, Exide, C&D, whatever they're pretty much all the same.
I'm not saying they last longer either. They all have a use life and will die eventually. Optima is a lighter battery and the gel electrolyte doesn't dissipate or seep out. It also seems to hold up to heat much better. Most battery failures that I've seen (and there's been hundreds) have been due to other issues that eventually hurt the batteries. It's $150 battery and I don't fault anyone from not wanting to spend that much on a battery but I'm still gonna buy them.

I hear ya. No battery is made for that kind of torture. It's a battery, plastic, lead, and electrolyte. The better batteries use thicker plastic and more lead so they hold up better. Lol
