An olinguito. Not an olingo.

New mammal species discovered: a raccoon-sized critter with teddy bear looks

Published August 15, 2013

Imagine a raccoon with a teddy bear face that is so cute it's hard to resist, let alone overlook. But somehow science did — until now.

But the adorable olinguito (oh-lihn-GEE'-toe) shouldn't have been too hard to find. One of them lived in the Smithsonian-run National Zoo in Washington for a year in a case of mistaken identity.
"It's been kind of hiding in plain sight for a long time" despite its extraordinary beauty, said Kristofer Helgen, the Smithsonian's curator of mammals.
The zoo's little critter, named Ringerl, was mistaken for a sister species, the olingo. Ringerl was shipped from zoo to zoo from 1967 to 1976: Louisville, Ky., Tucson, Ariz., Salt Lake City, Washington and New York City to try to get it to breed with other olingos.
It wouldn't.
"It turns out she wasn't fussy," Helgen said. "She wasn't the right species."

Last Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 sells for $500,000

Published August 15, 2013

Half a mil for a Mustang?
Yep, but it was worth it, for a couple of reasons.
The rights to the last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible, the final model of the current generation, were auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson event in Reno this past weekend for $500,000, more than eight times the retail price of the car.
Proceeds from the sale went to the Brain Injury Association of America, a cause supported by legendary Ford racing driver and Indy 500 champ Parnelli Jones, who was on hand and has been involved with the organization since his son Page suffered a debilitating crash in a Sprint Car race in 1994.
The car was purchased by Don Damon of Great Bend, Kan., who’ll take delivery of the 662 hp muscle car later this year.
The current Ford Mustang is expected to be replaced by an all-new version next year, just in time for the 50th anniversary of the model’s introduction in 1964. Since then, several versions carrying the Shelby name have been built, with some selling for more than $1 million on the collector car market in recent years.

Hey Charlie,

Been out playing around with the light a little. It isn't even fully dark yet and holy hell it will light up your world. Like I said earlier, I don't know what kind of charge the batteries have, just put them in right out of the pack.

And yes, 100 yards is no problem at all. Really focused bright hotspot right in the middle but a lot of spill around it too to light up the whole area.

The lanyard might not be ideal for what you want. Its just a thin strap that attaches though a hole in the edge of the tail cap. Really well built and solid feeling. The head and tail piece both screw in really smoothly. Weighed it and its 11 1/8 ounces with batteries.

I'll update with more as I mess with it. Curious to see if there's a difference when I get a known full charge on the batteries. Amazing to see this much light come out of something so small.
