Any more pics there?
That looks nice. After seeing it, I am sure that I am going to do some interior trim mods. I like this much better than plain black or the seats with the stripe down the middle. I think with some trim mods, the interior can go from nice to really nice. Some might want carbon fiber, and others metallic, but no matter what, it looks like mods could really make this interior stand out in a nice, but not too overstated way.

Remember when Yellow Blaze first was announced...and then pics...then all the criticism about the color. it looks awesome in person and I bet Lava Red will be the same. By the way that LavaRed interior is bad-azz..

My '66 A-code Mustang I just sold was vintage burgundy. To me it was the perfect classic mustang color that really set off all the chrome. But on a new mustang I don't think this color is going to work. It sort of looks brown. After selling the '66 in Jan, I tracked down (with the wonderful help of my local dealer) the perfect Sterling Gray '11 GT premium with manual shift, brembo brake pack, and a few more options. The outstanding commercials that FEATURED the sterling gray 2011 mustangs hooked me. Guess Ford will have to rethink the marketing now. I love my new car but I know there will be some other folks who will be disappointed not to get the SG color.

Yeah, I think the trick if you are ordering before production starts is to have the dealer order your car as a for stock rather than a customer order. I read that one dealer did that for a customer knowing Ford's initial runs are for stock orders.

Hey guys- first post. I think I have one of the earliest custom ordered 2012s to come off the line, just wanted to share details so you guys know the cars are coming. I ordered a Kona Blue 2011 V6 premium in November 2010. Before my order got processed, I was able to change to a Lava 2012. I think the order went in right as they started accepting 2012s in mid December or so. Anyway I just saw my Lava Red stang today. Hot off the truck to the dealer lot. Even the sales guys were a little giddy about the new color. I didn't get any pics, but you guys are right that it looks pretty much black until the light hits it right. If you don't want a black car, I suggest you not get Lava Red. It really looks black unless you look closely. It does not look anything like that custom maroon paint job from the auto show pic. Mine was built last week. I live in Detroit just up the interstate from Flat Rock btw. I'll post some pics hopefully in the next few days when I take delivery. Thanks for all the great info-

How were the lighting conditions when you saw it? There is often a decent amount of difference between the partly cloudy to overcast conditions and the extremely bright sun in AZ. If it really is as dark as you say even in very bright sunlight, then it will be a noticable change from the official Ford F150 pics that had Lava red. My guess is still that down here, it will be very clear that it is not black, since the sun is so bright all the time.
